Title: Approving posts
Post by: themitch on September 14, 2008, 01:47:36 PM
Hi

I have just upgraded to 2.0 beta 4 and am v impressed, so far. However, I must be missing something because I can't see how to approve individual posts?!?

I have enabled 'Post Moderation' in the options section and then, in the Permissions section defined that 'Regular Member' posts need approval befre being visible to the public.

This all works fine - I have logged in as a 'Regular member' created a new post and, lo and behold, it does not appear to the outside world, however, I cannot see how to approve a post?

I have logged in as the administrator, but, even when i view the new post, can't see a button that says to Approve. So I set the moderator of the board to be the administrator user, but that didn't seem to make any difference.

I get a 'Summary of posts awaiting approval' but still no clue as to how to approve them ...

... what am I missing? I'm sure it's an obvious thing!

Thanks in advance.

Don't you have a "MODERATE" button in your main menu right side  administrator?

Hi

Thanks for the quick response. I'm not sure what you mean by the main menu? Here is my administrator panel, is this what you mean?

One thing I notice, it looks like my Current Templates are still on the old 1.1 version - could this make a difference?

If so, how would I go about upgrading them?

Thanks

The tab menu:

HOME HELP SEARCH ADMIN MODERATE PROFILE MYMESSAGES MEMBERS LOGOUT

Sorry I can't see your image perfectly.

Is this issue resolved? If not, did you try using the default theme to see if it shows up? You should see a message in your user info box (near the unread posts links) that says you have xx number of posts waiting for approval.

The theme you are using doesnt appear to be entirely compatible, as your missing the moderator button. As suggest above switch to the default core theme and you should see these options appear.

Hi, thanks for the response ... I just changed the theme to be the core default theme and that seemed to fix the problem - the Approve button now appears on unapproved posts.

It's a bit disappointing, because I had spent time customising the other theme, but I guess it's a compromise to get the moderated posts functionality.

Thanks for your help.

It's ok, I've just worked out that I can set the default theme for myself (as moderator) and leave all the other users on the incompatible, but aesthetically pleasing theme.

Cheers
