Hey guys sorry for all the noobie stuff.. Well I recently went to renew my hosting on godaddy.com and for some reason it didn't renew the one i had so I had to get a new one.. Well, as I'm on the phone with the lady on godaddy she is walking me through this to cancel out my other one and get it to the new hosting.. Okay guys I'm a total noob and do not have a backup. n.e ways she failed to ask me if I did have a backup and then after cancelling realised what happend. So okay she offered to load up all my files for me in the new hosting.. Well, everything seems okay all the files seem to be on there but now when trying to access my site I get this error message :"Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later. "
I emailed godaddy and they tell me it is a scripting/coding error and they cannot help me.. I have no clue what that even is and just need some input. I had the site for a whole year and never had a single issue with this.
Thnx

are all the things in settings.php proper ?
is that in the file manager under Sources?? because if so there is no settings.php
no its is in main forum directory. as in like the folder which you have the forum in there, there is a php file named settings.php
found it and everything seems fine.. Since the hosting was moved to a new one would that change the directory ? B/c there it says unless anything was moved that the directory dosent need to be changed.
If you have moved to a new host, you need to create new database and link it with a new user. Then you need to upload the database back in there. Hence i think the information would have possibley changed up. Can you double check it all ?
If nothing happens, then PM me with Cpanel information and database username/name and password so that i can solve up the error ;)
you know what I went into my database and it says none are created. So I create one and see what happens from there?
create user for it and apply the user to the database, upload the database via phpmyadmin or restore_backup.php and then link the stuff via settings.php
well i created the database but as far as uploading and all that im kinda lost .. sorry im new at this stuff. where do i access phpmyadmin ?
in your cpanel, click on phpmyadmin. It will take you there and then you can select the database there. Then click Import and import the database.
do you have AIM or yahoo?
PM'ed you my yahoo ID.
hmm it says ur not online
i am in invisible mode but i havnt recieved any request to add you up, please provide me your ID in the PM.
