When trying to install a mod I can get to the screen where it lists the Install Actions, but when I click "Proceed" it just takes me back to the same screen. I have tried with two different mods and it happened with both of them. However, on both there were some files that it could not find when listing the install actions. (Just some non-english language files.) Could that be the problem?
I am currently using SMF 1.0.1. My host does not have safe mode enabled.

Whta FTP path are you using, what is the physical path, and what directories do you see when you log into FTP?

The "Local path to SMF" is /forum. When I login to FTP I see mainwebsite_cgi, mainwebsite_html, and mainwebsite_perl. I'm not sure what you mean by the physical path.
Can you try, for the path in the FTP login area, the following, please?
mainwebsite_html/forum
No slash at the beginning or end, just the above.
