Users logging in "Forever" on my forum have to login again each time they restart their computer or repopen the page.
Is there a setting I can change so they stay logged in all the time?
Thanks. :)
Seems like the cookie is probably not being set correctly. Is your forum in a frame and/or on a subdomain? What are your current cookie settings?
Hi Grudge,
Sorry my forum isn't in a frame and it's not a sub-domain. Where do I check the current cookie settings?
Edit Server Settings -> Cookie Name
Edit Features and Options -> Default login cookies length (in minutes)
Edit Features and Options -> Enable local storage of cookies
Edit Features and Options -> Use subdomain independent cookies
Edit Server Settings -> Cookie Name
YaBBSECookie151
Edit Features and Options -> Default login cookies length (in minutes)
120
Edit Features and Options -> Enable local storage of cookies
Isn't ticked. Should it be?
Edit Features and Options -> Use subdomain independent cookies
Isn't ticked. It says turn off local cookies first. How do i do that?
Thank you. :)

By not ticking the other one you haven't ticked! ;)
So if I tick Edit Features and Options -> Use subdomain independent cookies should that solve the problem?
Not unless you've been trying to access the cookie from both your domain and a sub-domain.
Well i don't know about that. Other people experience the same thing not just me.
So is there anything I can do so people stay logged in?
Works fine for me, logging in, cookie until 2011, and logging out.

Ok is there any settings people could have on their computer that causes them to not stay logged in.
I stay logged in except when I turn the computer off I'm always logged out again. Sometimes I click refresh or open a page then it shows me as logged in. Sometimes I ahve to login again.
Sometimes it says I'm guest although my name shows in the online list at the bottom and I have to login again.
People have also reported not being able to logout too.
Maybe they'll have to put up with the idiosyncracies if there's no obvious changes to make to fix them.
Try changing "subdomain independent cookies" to on, and changing the cookie name to something other than what it is. This will log everyone out, mind you.

Please excuse my ignorance Unknown but does the cookie have to be named something specific or can I just call it any name, maybe Fred for example?

Hehe... you could call it Fred, Max, Rover, or anything you'd like ;). It just shouldn't have anything but letters and numbers in it.

Seeing it's a football forum I'll honour our champion player and call the cookie Richo. :D
Thanks heaps for your help guys. Will try the suggested changes and see how we go. :)
