Otsikko: some encoding issues (i guess)
Kirjoitti: Robert Frost - helmikuu 02, 2005, 12:57:20 IP
well, this is the story. I am from Croatia (SE Europe) and by default i use ISO-8859-2 encoding. All is set and works properly. Yet, some users post and instead a character from that specific charset i get a ? or a square, eventhough those users claim it's all looking ok. Plus, when i quote someone with central european characters, the quote looks just like i described (some letters are ? and the square).

What can be the problem here? Are the users using a different encoding perhaps? if so, how to force iso-8859-2 on them?

(sounds brutal ;) )

That usually indicates that your installation of Windows does not have the right fonts installed.

No.  Other languages may, in many cases, need other fonts to be installed such as "Ming Liu", etc....  check your control panel, under "Regional Settings", I think.

still, i fail to understand how could this resolve the issue. All is fine except for some users and quotes which contain specific characters.
