Seems to work now.  I bet it was a broken table, no?

I had to reinstall it. I cant have it on my server.  :( I loved this software, but is what it did was remove the database from my server automaticly. I dunno why though.

I wish this software was in perl.  :'(

What?  It won't do that.

If your server was unexpectedly restarted, MySQL may have crashed a table.  This would have made a part of the database temporarily inaccessable.  You would need to then REPAIR the table to make it work.  SMF has an option to do this automatically.

"Can't open file" is exactly this sort of error.  But, if you see such an error SMF can't do anything about it or the option is off.  Did you even give repairing a shot?

Whether it's written in Perl, PHP, C++, C#, D, Python, or Scheme wouldn't have mattered in this case; this would still have happened - it was the database that had a problem, because something happened to the server.

Well 2 other perl forums I use don't have that problem.  :-\ I've been running a certain forum software for about a month - No problems, but it's layout is a little hmm ugly... I JUST set up PHP and it was my first time using it and I chose this forum software. So I don't really have any clue on how to even repair. I looked around, but just couldn't find anything. Maybe I'll try again here in a few.

Well, it's never happened here ever.  It only means that the server crashed or something anyway: it's bad, it's just that MySQL detected this and locked the table down because it got worried.

Edit: and again, this would have happened to e-blah (which is a rip off of YaBB, afaik) if it used MySQL.  Nothing to do with Perl vs. PHP.

Well I've been running Eblah for quite a while. Once I seen SMF I was like whoa. And I loved it, but it keeps erasing all the files off the PHP Database. I had to reinstall SMF.  I may get into  a diffrent host and use SMF. I really love the layout.
