I am getting:

The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

On applying the mod for 1.1.6

Looks like a nice mod. How hard would it be for an admin to extend the number of pages, assuming basic proficiency with template editing?

ETA: Took a look at the manual installation instructions. It looks like the answer to my question is "not hard at all".

@ Costa:

You're welcome, and thanks for the Brazilian, which I may add to the package in a future release.

@ evil-angelist:

I ran a test install here with no problems on 1.1.6. Try again?

@ antechinus:

Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard to add pages although I wonder if I made it "1,001 Pages" and somebody would still like to add another page. :)

@ ccbtimewiz:

Thanks!

@Nfanthrr33:

Probably caused by collisions with other mod packages. It's a popular area. :)

@Nascar:

Thank you sir! :)

nice mod.
there are 2 small glitches in modification1.xml :
line 213: $txt['dozen_pages_title_6'] = 'Page 7 title:';
change to: $txt['dozen_pages_title_7'] = 'Page 7 title:';

line 270: $txt['dozen_pages_title_6'] = 'Page 7 title:';
change to: $txt['dozen_pages_title_7'] = 'Page 7 title:';

OldSwede,

Thanks for the bug report! :) I've fixed it and uploaded Bakers Dozen Pages version 1.01 which has the "page 7" typo corrected.

I tried to use the smf parser but it wont read it.   Something about xml files errors.

Funny, I set mine to read "INFO" too. :)

Great minds... ;)

I think I missed the instruction page where it said that... Too much time reading 'A baker's dozen defined:'

OK I see there was a newer version released and that has been a bit kinder BUT:

I have these 2 problems:

1. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/index.template.php Test failed

3. Execute Modification ./Sources/ModSettings.php Test failed

Looks over the manual install again... Ummm to do manual installs onto those files I might as well do the whole lot right?

Is the new manual install the correct new one?

thanks

Manual is correct. And the Mod Site has the latest of this or any other modifications. The manual install instructions are automatically generated so they are the latest you can get.

You quite likely have interference with another mod.

Post by: Rafferty on November 03, 2008, 06:24:05 AM
It is an xlant mod well done. I wonder if the pages horizontal menu would look better if the page links resembled the menu tabs on the main menu.

Also how about a method of moving the pages up and down to place them in order of preference. I added an initial 5 pages then decided it would be better in a different order.

Again well done and our thanks.
Title: Re: Bakers Dozen Pages
Post by: Deprecated on November 03, 2008, 11:04:44 AM
Good luck evil-angelist! :)

Rafferty, the horizontal pages menu was based upon that used in SMF's help system, so as to recycle the code rather than inventing new code, although the code is so heavily modified as to be unrecognizable now. It achieves two goals of (1) being similar to existing SMF pages as far as look and feel, and (2) minimizing the amount of labor necessary to add the feature and support the addition. That's why it looks like SMF's Help pages and that's why it would be impractical to change it.

As far as order of pages, it's just top to bottom in configuration panel = page 1 through 13 in menu position. Just cut 'n paste until you get your preferences satisfied, save that. This isn't a feature that I expected to get maintained a lot. In my own forum I got my "INFO" system set up once and I haven't needed to change it since. So what I'm saying is that the mod doesn't have a lot of fancy features like being able to change page ordering, or the WYSIWYG editor either.

The important thing is what site visitors and forum members see, and I think this mod delivers that pretty well, and I hope 13 pages will cover the huge majority of applications as far as being enough pages.

1.    Execute Modification    ./Themes/default/index.template.php    Test successful
2.    Execute Modification    ./index.php    Test successful
3.    Execute Modification    ./Sources/ModSettings.php    Test failed
4.    Execute Modification    ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php    Test successful

i installed the package even though i have test failed on /theme/default/.... i then edit "/Themes/dilbermc/index.template.php" and
"/Themes/dilbermc/languages/Modifications.english.php" and upload the included package "DozenPages.template.php" to "./Themes/dilbermc".. but when i went to my admin>features and options what i see is just white page! i can not access my "features and options" setting anymore. i tried to uninstall the package, and i regain access to my "features and options". and it is weird because i have the 'dozen pages' in my "features and options" eventhough i unistall the package. i tried enabling a page, but when i click the link, just white page. perhaps it is because i uninstall the package. if i install the package back, i can not access to admin>features and options

./Sources/ModSettings.php
./Themes/{theme name}/languages/Modifications.{the language from your forum}.php

Let's try doing it mannually

I love this mod, but why is my content being pushed down?

I'm using tables - is that the problem? And yes, all HTML is enclosed with the bbCode tags.

I have it enabled for guests (for now) if you want to take a looksie - it's under "Guides"

ETA: Guess I can't use tables. :\
Title: Re: Bakers Dozen Pages
Post by: Deprecated on November 11, 2008, 01:24:31 PM
I don't know what content being pushed down that is, but I'm imagining a mental picture of that, and I'd say that your forum's width causes your content to be compressed, and the only way it can expand is downwards (unless you expand your browser window.

You must have removed the guest enable but I'm happy to see that you are using my Rules mod. :)

Is this the best Mod available for adding a custom FAQ section? Is there something better or different available. I have been looking for a few days and haven't come across anything

I am in the process of setting up a forum for our society A.K.A. the Historic Clay District. I have been looking for the best method of adding a FAQ section to relate how best to utilize the forum. Basically a good percentage of what is found in the Help Menu but I think a FAQ section in addition to the Help section will cut down peoples issues and questions. I am wrong here or is the right way to go.

Medalta:

This mod is more or less the Help section but with pages that you can customize for whatever you want. If your FAQ will fit in a dozen or so pages (or less) and if the page organization suits you, then it could be a good choice. It's up to you to decide.

I do believe the ability to include HTML (or BBCodes) makes it very flexible, as does the ability to change the name of the tab and the titles of the pages.

I searched our Mod Site (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/) to see if I could find anything else suitable but didn't see anything. I suggest you have a look there, and if you can't find anything more suitable then give my Dozen Pages a try. :)

I noticed on several vBulletin sites that they seem to have a generic setup for a FAQ section by the fact they all have the same content. Baker's Dozen looks neater and better organized so I think I will just use it as long as you are OK with me doing so.  I will include a link back to the original mod somewhere in the content.

B.T.W. I had a look at a few of your other mods, thanks for doing this kind of stuff for people like me, your efforts make this a much more pleasant experience.  :D

Could you please explain again what you are doing?

I want to make it clear that it is absolutely NOT OKAY for you to rewrite or redistribute my modification!

It is intended for you to install it on your own SMF forum and to use it. You can modify it for your own use, it is NOT okay to redistribute it particularly if you have modified it.

Whoa, I have no intention of modifying your mod. I wouldn't even if I knew how. I had to reread what I posted to see what you were referring to, when I said "Original Mod" I meant in the context of a Rule Mod and not as I want to use it for a FAQ section.

As to linking back to the mod, what I intended was to link to the community board here to the Bakers Dozen thread or possibly the Mods section if people were interested in where it came from in said FAQ section.

Please don't think I was in any way trying to take away from what you have done or take ANY credit for your work. Sorry if I wasn't clear on this.

Basically I will do it any way you think best.

Yes, in your index.template.php

find and delete the following code

// Show the [pages] button.
global $user_info, $modSettings;
if ($user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']))
echo ($current_action == 'pages' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'pages' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pages">', !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'], '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'pages' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

and now, to put this mod before the help pages, find

// How about the [Help Button] button?

add before

// Show the [pages] button.
global $user_info, $modSettings;
if ($user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']))
echo ($current_action == 'pages' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'pages' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pages">', !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'], '</a>

Hmm sorry but I can't find that in my index.template.php . In fact, that file has not been modified recently, and I installed the mod this morning :o

Yes, and it shows the PAGES tab between HELP and SEARCH correctly.

if shows the tab PAGES, in your index.template MUST have the following code

   // Show the [pages] button.
   global $user_info, $modSettings;
   if ($user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']))
   echo ($current_action == 'pages' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
            <td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'pages' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
               <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pages">', !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'], '</a>
            </td>' , $current_action == 'pages' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

If you don't find him, attach your index.template on your post please.

No, my index.template.php does not have that code  :o

But I found the buttons array in Subs.php, changed the position of the pages button and now it appears in the position I want :)

Anyway here is my index.template.php

You're not using the default theme :P or are you using SMF 2.0 ?
In the default theme the buttons are in index.template.php :P

let me explain

In the index.template.php from default theme you have the buttons like this (in SMF 1.1.x)

// Show the [home] button.
echo ($current_action=='home' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'home' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '">' , $txt[103] , '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'home' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

// Show the [help] button.
echo ($current_action == 'help' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'help' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=help">' , $txt[119] , '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'help' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

// How about the [search] button?
if ($context['allow_search'])
echo ($current_action == 'search' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'search' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">

</td>' , $current_action == 'logout' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '

And here you can change the positions of the buttons just like you want :P

Sorry about the off, but i lke to talk with Deprecated :P

I don't know too much about modding, i'm just a curious guy. When something doesn't work, i explore the changes.
I translate the mods for other portuguese/brazilian guys who don't know nothing about editing files

Now I only work with SMF 1.1.x, and i do something on it every day, changing little thing, modificate litlle things, just for playing :)

I share what i know with everybody, i read a lot here in smf.org, I learn a lot study your mods and others

one day I can do a mod :P For now i only can help and translate :P

I'm posting the code for SMF 2.0 ;)

If you want to place the PAGES tab on other position in the top menu just follow these steps:

1) Open Sources/Subs.php

2) Search and cut the following code

'pages' => array(
'title' => !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'],
'href' => $scripturl . '?action=pages',
'show' => $user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']),
'sub_buttons' => array(
),
),

3) Paste the code in the desired place. If you want the PAGES tab to be shown before the HELP tab then paste the code before the HELP button code, like this

'pages' => array(
'title' => !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'],
'href' => $scripturl . '?action=pages',
'show' => $user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']),
'sub_buttons' => array(
),
),
'help' => array(
'title' => $txt['help'],
'href' => $scripturl . '?action=help',
'show' => true,
'sub_buttons' => array(
),
),

4) Save the file and you are done!

Would like to thank Costa and Deprecated for their help. Keep up your great work! :)

Sorry Disturbed, I sometimes miss a post here or there. :)

I had a look at your installation problem and it was caused by interference from a different mod package. I've just changed my own package to see if I can avoid that in the future. Please download the new Pages version 1.02 which I hope will fix your problem.

I love this mod, but why is my content being pushed down?

I'm using tables - is that the problem? And yes, all HTML is enclosed with the bbCode tags.

Quote from: Deprecated on November 11, 2008, 01:24:31 PM
I don't know what content being pushed down that is, but I'm imagining a mental picture of that, and I'd say that your forum's width causes your content to be compressed, and the only way it can expand is downwards (unless you expand your browser window.

I'm trying to use this mod and I'm having the same problem as Lady Night Owl.
I'm trying to make a double layer background but it doesn't start at the top of the page.
There's a very large white area, and then my background appears.
Perhaps I'm not using the correct codes to start off the page.
How exactly should it start?
I'm not very good when it comes to html, etc, and I don't even know what you mean when you say BBC codes.
I do know that a normal web page using html starts off with:
<html>
<head>
<title>
<body>
but I get the impression it doesn't work that way for the Baker's Dozen.

After trying several different ways to include codes I normally use when working with html, I decided to try adding an image at the top cause I thought perhaps it's a header area an maybe images belonged there.
Surprisingly enough, I can add an image but then there's another big gap between the image and the backgrounds I'm trying to use.
If you need to see what I'm talking about, I'll give you a link to my site and make it possible for guests to view that page. Just let me know.
Thanks.
Sheryl

Are only certain codes working?

[hr] works
[b] works
[color=???] works
[sub] works

but, when I try to do list items, it works in post, but not in the mod
[list]
[li][/li]
[/list] do not work

I'm using firefox and have no problem with it inside the post showing up with the bullet points.  Just no bullet points in the mod.

It works for bold, center, color, size, tables.... but not for listing.

No, no, no! You learned too much HTML! Less is more!

You see, you can't have more than one <HTML>, <HEAD>, <TITLE>, <BODY>, etc. tags in any one HTML page! SMF already has those tags! You're trying to put a second HTML page inside of the first HTML page.

Just skip all that stuff. The only HTML tags you need are those used for formatting, links, images, etc. SMF already started out the page before your code is ever displayed, and SMF is going to finish it up too so don't put in tags like </BODY> and </HTML> either!

Just remember, start your text with the [HTML] BBCode tag, and finish it up with the [/HTML] tag. Put your codes and text between them.

Just get rid of all those tags and the Dozen Pages will work fine for you! :)

You understand it! :) Some people are trying to smash a spider with a nuclear weapon. Sure you can include HTML in your pages, but that doesn't mean that you have to use it. In many if not most cases BBCodes are easier to use and get the same results.

I compose my pages in ordinary posts in a test forum in the same way. Then just paste it into the modification's pages when you are satisfied with the results. You can do this with text, BBCodes and HTML.

That error is not due to the modification package. It is a problem with SMF's Package Manager. Please post a support request in either SMF 1.x Support or SMF 2.x Support boards.

The Bakers Dozen Pages review

by Reverend Jeremiah

Rated: ***** (5 stars)

So here is your delima: You have just installed Simple Machines Forum as the Content Management system for your site, but you have certain information/web pages/code/naked pictures/yada yada yada that you want available to your visitors outside of a forum post.

Don't you worry and don't you fear, The Bakers Dozen Pages are here!

(Cue cheesy advertisement music)

The Bakers Dozen Pages gives you 12+1 permanent and professionally embedded webpages for you to offer to your browsers. THATS RIGHT! I said 12+1 pages. Thats 13 user friendly pages available for those of you who failed elementary mathematics. For those of you who want to add 12+1 pages to your forum with a single navigation bar button that you can customize, it doesnt get any easier! Just go to the Simple Machines Forums Mod site and download this WONDERFUL modification by following this link (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1477) and it can be yours for 3 easy installments of FREE! Thats right... 13 user friendly website style pages on your forum for absolutely nothing!

The Bakers Dozen Pages Mod can handle BBcode just like you use when you are making a forum post, and it can also handle basic HTML code. The cherry on the cake is that it morphs beautifully with the "Help" button navigation template, making this mod mold seamlessly into your forum.

So what are you waiting for? You like doughnuts don't you? Hell, everyone loves doughnuts! So why not grab yourself a Bakers Dozen and enjoy the rich, decadent flavor of 13 easy edit web page options for your forum.

Hi Deprecated, I have 1.1.7 and I did a manual install, so that is why I dont know what the problem could be:

Possible future change: on the http://*website*.com/index.php?action=pages the Page titles go down instead of across in bullet style?

Its funny that you said that, I just spent the last 5 months working in Pennsylvania and their beer has to be sold in seperate building sort of like an ABC store. Well, to make a long story short, they would often give you a free micro beer sample with every purchase.. and get this..they DELIVERED  :D ..God bless America!

Hello,

Would you be open to the idea of being able to limit one or more pages access by group?

I'd like to have an "Info" tab, and under there have pages for everyone to see things like links, FAQ, etc.  But I'd also like a page or two for just the Moderators or just the Admins to record appropriate reference info, instead of relying on them know which topics and posts to reference.  Maybe a field to list the groupids if you don't want to create a set of checkboxes?

Grazie mille!

I get
3.     Execute Modification     ./Sources/ModSettings.php     Test failed

and it appears to have been covered here because folks are saying, thanks i mad the edits and it works...however It seems to be flying right over my head at this point because I cannot seem to pinpoint what I need to do. ?

On the mod download page ( http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1477 ) you can select the manual installation instructions for 1.1.7 by using the drop box and the Submit button.

That will tell you the edits for your file. You'll love it.

Please be advised that I have updated this modification as follows:

Version 1.1 (Nov. 25, 2008) Improved 1.x installation script to avoid interference from other mods. Added British and British UTF-8 language strings.

Link to Mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1477)

Anybody having problems with installing on SMF 1.1.7 should try the new version of this mod.

Great job as usual deprecated. I manually installed this package on my SMF1.1.7 and I know enough about code to get around most problems. Perhaps I should have documented my tweeks and posted them on this thread to help you and the others out, but hind site is always 50/50. Of course, Im using English language strings because of many reasons (including Tiny Portal).

Hey..I thought the British spoke English? LOL. I suppose if I use the British strings i would see; "Oh crap!" turn into "Oh bloody Hell!" Or "God bless America" would turn into "God save the King and the Queen mother"

"Have a jolly good day chap."
(see, your improved installation script is working like a champ!)

Are only certain codes working?

[hr] works
[b] works
[color=???] works
[sub] works

but, when I try to do list items, it works in post, but not in the mod
[list]
[li][/li]
[/list] do not work

I'm using firefox and have no problem with it inside the post showing up with the bullet points.  Just no bullet points in the mod.

It works for bold, center, color, size, tables.... but not for listing.

I've done what you said.  I made my post in the post editor and then copied the info into the block for one of the pages.  As you can see, all the codes work, but the "listing".  Now, the listing does work in the post.  The bullets appear as normal like I want them.  I've attached pictures to show you what I've done in case I'm just doing something incorrect.  I've used the "listing" bb code with no problems previously.

Please note, because I am using the info already in the Baker's Dozen mod, I added a "*" where the bullet is supposed to be located until I get an answer.  (That's why you see the bullet plus the "*" in the post examples)

Attachment #1 = the written part in the post editor

Attachment #2 = the written part if posted in a thread/post

Attachment #3 = using the Dozen Pages Mod

Hi Deprecated,

I am running a website for professionals and it's a members only website. I've got SMF 1.1.7 install (member activation) and that works absolutely brilliantly. I was wondering, if I install Baker's Dozen and then use them to link to my other website with mostly html pages, pdf files, audio/video content, etc,  can the folders and contents outside of the forum folders be protected, ie only registerd members can view and have access to them?

Thanks.

Hey,

how about the ability to add full html/php code? I do not even get html links to work correctly (without BB code) and the list items are bit bugged like said before. For the BB codes it works well.

Is there a way to manipulate the codes to make this mod replace the ''recent post window'' or appear at the same place the recent posts appear. I want to use it to announce interesting topics to the homepage

Hi all,

I tried installing this mod but ended up with errors. I am using ApolloBB theme and I had a look at previous post for fields to edit using non-default theme.

However when I looked in the ApolloBB index.template, the show button seems very different from instructions for manual install.

I've attached the file index.template file and I would appreciate if somebody can advise me how to edit it to include the "show pages" button.

and the same error but on line 150.

The other error is

QuoteTemplate Parse Error!
It seems something has gone sour on the forum with the template system. This problem should only be temporary, so please come back later and try again. If you continue to see this message, please contact the administrator.

You can also try refreshing this page.

Thanks for the response evil-angelist. In which case all his mods should be removed from SMF. But if SMF chooses to make it available for it's members, then someone should be responsible for it or at least a note there stating "no support' or use at own risk" or something to that effect.

Hi ,
I think something is missing in the Dozen Pages Mod, which is adding PHP contents so I added some Code and made it functional with php contents,  here is the additional Code which will make adding PHP Pages possible :

in DosenPages.template.php find :

function template_main()
{
global $context;

echo theme_linktree();

echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div class="helpmenu titlebg" style="padding: 4px;">
', $context['dozen_pages_menu'], '
</div>
<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg2">
', $context['dozen_pages_contents'], '
</div>
</div>
';
}

Replace with :

function template_main()
{
global $context,$pcontent;
$pcontent=$context['dozen_pages_contents'];

echo theme_linktree();
if (preg_match('/<?/',$pcontent)){
$pcontent=str_replace('<br />',"\n",$pcontent);
$pcontent=str_replace('&nbsp;',' ',$pcontent);
$pcontent=str_replace('&#039;',"'",$pcontent);
$fp=fopen("changable.php","w");
fputs($fp,$pcontent);
fclose($fp);
echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div class="helpmenu titlebg" style="padding: 4px;">
', $context['dozen_pages_menu'], '
</div>';
echo '<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg">';
include("changable.php");
echo '</div></div>'; } else {
echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div class="helpmenu titlebg" style="padding: 4px;">
', $context['dozen_pages_menu'], '
</div>
<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg2">
', $context['dozen_pages_contents'], '
</div>
</div>
';
}
};

add an empty php page in the root Directory of your forum call it 'changable.php' ,  it should have a file permission of 766 (or it depends on your server).
The addition of the php content should be with its start and end Signs
adding other Contents like [HTML] , [CODE ] ,etc. remain unchanged.

I had to apply this mod again because of some updating I did to my database and I got an error warning me there was an error in the
themes/index.template.php file so I went to the Bakers Dozen download page and looked at the manual instructions for the index.template.php file.
I see the codes are in my index.template.php file and the program seems to work so should I be ok?
Why do you think I got that warning?
I'm using ezportal. Could there be a conflict between these two mods and if so, do I need to make some adjustments?

Great mod from Deprecated.

A TIP:

If you want to mix pages you've created with links to some other pages elsewhere you can use the following code in the contents of a page and it will directly link to to external URLs...

<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0.5; url=http://www. insert url here ">

You have to wrap this html code in html BBC tags - I'm sorry I can't type these here as they get read as BBC tags!

Two suggestions

1. Not really important, but the ability to rearrange the order of the pages without manually changing them around. Like, up/down buttons.

2. My main request... The ability to restrict who can and cannot access the pages depending on membership level. Such as, I have the Persona mod installed, and I don't want the PLAYER ranking accounts to be able to view a page that is for CHARACTER ranking access only. So, being able to restrict that would be awesome, rather than just "members" and "guest" access.

Other than that, I am loving this mod :D

I'm trying to insert an HTML table into the info box for one of the tables.

But when view the page theres a massive gap at the top and then my table.
If I write some text imediately next to my table this appears at the top. I can't figure out why this gap is appearing or how to remove it.

Hello,

I installed this mod with only partial success--somehow I blew the formating.

For some reason my new tab shows up as text only--not as a true tab like the others. There also seems to be an ordering problem. When I first load the page "Bookstore" (my new tab or just plain text in this case) is sort of in-between help and search. However after any tab is clicked the "Bookstore" text ends up at the end of the line. of tabs On the bright side, I am able to click the text link and it will take me to the inline amazon bookstore  I added code for so HTML is working great. I just need to get this formatting fixed--help!  :o

I imagine it would be a matter of manipulating the install info. Change action to action=pages2 or any other name you prefer, and to correspondingly change every reference in the template edits to match. Rename a second copy of dozenpages.php and match it up to the template references, etc. It would be easier to do it manually to insure that the install doesn't bork up the first installation. I will try it on a test forum in a day or so and let you know how it goes.

Thanks Tiribulus. Did you have to make any modifications to it?
Sheryl

Not on 2.0 RC1.

I did on 1.1.8

I installed this on RC1 and it seems to be working fine, however I'm getting an error in my error log on my host site saying this file doesn't exist:
themes/classic/images/english/pages.gif
I'm assuming it has something to do with this mod.
I'm using the default theme but I think some of my members may be using classic.
Is there suppose to be a gif added some place?

I don't know where that's coming from. There is no gif file in the package ???

Somebody else will have to address that one for ya.

I haven't used classic in so long, but if I am not mistaken, classic uses gifs for each menu bar selection.  Home.gif, profile.gif, etc.  Simply create a gif the same size and color as the ones you will find in your  /themes/classic/images/english directory.  name it pages.gif, and that error should be resolved.

Hi ,
I think something is missing in the Dozen Pages Mod, which is adding PHP contents so I added some Code and made it functional with php contents,  here is the additional Code which will make adding PHP Pages possible :

in DosenPages.template.php find :

function template_main()
{
global $context;

echo theme_linktree();

echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div class="helpmenu titlebg" style="padding: 4px;">
', $context['dozen_pages_menu'], '
</div>
<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg2">
', $context['dozen_pages_contents'], '
</div>
</div>
';
}

Replace with :

function template_main()
{
global $context,$pcontent;
$pcontent=$context['dozen_pages_contents'];

echo theme_linktree();
if (preg_match('/<?/',$pcontent)){
$pcontent=str_replace('<br />',"\n",$pcontent);
$pcontent=str_replace('&nbsp;',' ',$pcontent);
$pcontent=str_replace('&#039;',"'",$pcontent);
$fp=fopen("changable.php","w");
fputs($fp,$pcontent);
fclose($fp);
echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div class="helpmenu titlebg" style="padding: 4px;">
', $context['dozen_pages_menu'], '
</div>';
echo '<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg">';
include("changable.php");
echo '</div></div>'; } else {
echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div class="helpmenu titlebg" style="padding: 4px;">
', $context['dozen_pages_menu'], '
</div>
<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg2">
', $context['dozen_pages_contents'], '
</div>
</div>
';
}
};

add an empty php page in the root Directory of your forum call it 'changable.php' ,  it should have a file permission of 766 (or it depends on your server).
The addition of the php content should be with its start and end Signs
adding other Contents like [HTML] , [CODE ] ,etc. remain unchanged.

I like the idea of adding php content but lack the experience of coding to fully understand how to go about this. I can follow these instructions but need further help, perhaps an example of how to pull latest post content from a particular board or member stats?

many thanks

I installed this mod on my forum using v 1.1.8 and it works great....on the default theme, which is not the theme I use on my forum

I use the aero79 theme.

Can someone tell me what file would I need to edit in order to get the pages button to show up in the menu?

thanks

Look at the manual installation instructions for the mod. Check for any edits made to files inside the /themes/default folder. Any of those files that have their own versions in the folder for your theme may need matching edits. Also see if any files in the mod package are copied to the /themes/default folder and put copies in the folder and or any sub folders for your theme. Basically you duplicate the steps taken to install for the default theme. Back up the files before you edit them. If you blow anything up just copy the unedited copy back where it was.

No problem. Works for me. I'm new to this stuff myself, but I've managed to pull off a few dozen tweaks and changes successfully and usually (but not always) without asking for help now, though at first I was pestering these guys all the time O:) As long as you have backups all kinds of kamikaze coding missions can be attempted. Of course my forum is not a production outfit so that leaves me more freedom than somebody who has a few hundred users online all the time.

Thanks for your help. It's working perfectly now

Could someone help me implement this mod in to my theme -
RuNet:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=1356

After playing with the code, I now think that I need to add something to index.template.php

Here is the code from  index.template.php :
<?php
// Version: SMF 2.0 RC1; index

/* This template is, perhaps, the most important template in the theme. It
contains the main template layer that displays the header and footer of
the forum, namely with main_above and main_below. It also contains the
menu sub template, which appropriately displays the menu; the init sub
template, which is there to set the theme up; (init can be missing.) and
the linktree sub template, which sorts out the link tree.

The init sub template should load any data and set any hardcoded options.

The main_above sub template is what is shown above the main content, and
should contain anything that should be shown up there.

The main_below sub template, conversely, is shown after the main content.
It should probably contain the copyright statement and some other things.

The linktree sub template should display the link tree, using the data
in the $context['linktree'] variable.

The menu sub template should display all the relevant buttons the user
wants and or needs.

For more information on the templating system, please see the site at:

  if ($context['user']['unread_messages'] > 0)
  echo ' (<strong>'. $context['user']['unread_messages'] . '</strong>)';

  echo '</a>';

  }

But I couldn't pick the right code to put in.

Why?

For those looking for more than a bakers dozen pages, and permissions based access, worth looking at Robbos "Custom Pages" mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1347).

You will need to set up your own menu or call the pages from links elsewhere but other than that a great follow-up to this mod - and the two are compatible so you can run both without conflict...

I "need" this mod.  Here is the deal though ...  I have ver. 1.1.8 installed and use the default (Core) Theme.  I have seen somewhat contradictory postings here regarding the mods suitability for 1.1.8.  Will it work with out modification?  If it needs modifications what might those be?  As long as I back everything up prior to installation what is the worse that can happen?

BTW other mods I've installed are Logo Redirect, Simple Portal, Aeva, SMF Trader and AjaxChat if that makes a difference.

I would suggest a manual install if you want to be extra cautious but i used it with 1.1.8 w/ no side effects.

I installed the Bakers Dozen Pages Mod.  It was installed successfully and I configured to enable it. But still, the tabs to click and go to the pages are not seen in the main page.  Any step I may have missed?  See pic below.

You'll need to install the button manually on any custom themes. Also this isn't a request for a new mod so I'll move it to the support thread for Baker's Dozen.

In index.template.php find this:

if ($context['current_action'] == 'theme')
$current_action = isset($_REQUEST['sa']) && $_REQUEST['sa'] == 'pick' ? 'profile' : 'admin';

Change to this:

if ($context['current_action'] == 'theme')
$current_action = isset($_REQUEST['sa']) && $_REQUEST['sa'] == 'pick' ? 'profile' : 'admin';

if ($context['current_action'] == 'pages')
$current_action = 'pages';

Find this:

// How about the [search] button?
if ($context['allow_search'])

Change to this:

// Show the [pages] button?
// Show the [pages] button.
global $user_info, $modSettings;
if ($user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']))
echo'
<td align="center" class="menubg' , $current_action == 'pages' ? '2' : '' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pages">', !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'], '</a>
</td>';

// How about the [search] button?
if ($context['allow_search'])

Great Mod Thanks.

Just one question. Where do I change the colour of the text of the page header titles?.

I am using 2.0 RC1 With extreme6 theme and the titles are currently red when a page is being viewed, I would like green if possible.

Thank you.

Thanks a lot, my friends wife made the banner and someone here installed it for me. What's your site? If you go to the help wanted section here a lot of people will help for free. I can't do graphics yet or I'd help you.

  As far as the Dozen pages error goes, I have to run out to take care of an errand, I have the same smf version as you, if you post up your index.template.php I will look at it, do you know how to do that? use the "attach" feature below. I will be back at about 8pm New York time.

I have one snippet that I cannot use in dozen pages but I can use it on forum:

code example is given bellow:

<div id="lrep7366493" style="width: 350px;">Data loading....<a href="http://ps3glcom.leaguerepublic.com/Index.do?divisionseason=8784595">click here for Premier Division</a><br/><br/><a href="http://www.leaguerepublic.com">LeagueRepublic</a></div>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
var lrcode = '7366493'
</script>
<script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://api.leaguerepublic.com/client/api/cs1.js"></script>

Is there any way to enable this snippet on dozen pages to appear?

Just to add: Have 2.0 RC1-1 and default Theme

See in one set I will get 13 pages to put radios........... in second sets, I want to put you tube videos.......... like that............. may I need more than 2 sets. but now atleast I need two sets of dozen pages............... help..............

I needed the same.  I run two Clubs on one site and wanted a set of pages for each that coped with html and BBC and used a similar navigation style to the forum HELP pages.

Today I went through all the parse files manually and changed all references to bakers_dozen_/... to bakers_dozen2_/..., changed the sub actions from sa=pages to sa=pages2, renamed BakersDozen2.php and BakersDozen2.template.php (and changed the references inside those files) and finally amended and uploaded the add_default_settings.php to the forum root directory.

Uploaded all files, replacing and creating new as necessary, ran add_default_settings from my browser and emptied the cache from Admin.

Worked a dream. Now have two examples of Bakers Dozen in my Modifications tab of Admin and can call the pages using /index.php?action=pages2;sa=1...2...3 etc. And of course you get the top menu in the title.

Just take care and rename all systematically.

So, where can I go to change the color of the active page from the by-default red, to something more fitting for my forums' theme?  Does that particular piece of code likely affect the color of other things not at all related to Bakers Dozen Pages?

I asked that question once and was told that it's not a "mod" thing but an SMF thing (example:  the same "red" you see when you look down at the bottom of your forum's page under "Users Online" and see your own name, as the admin, in red).  So....  CSS?  I didn't pursue it.

That's pretty much what I figured, I just have no idea where exactly to look in the style sheet...  My best idea (and the thing I'll probably try next) is pasting a printscreen of that particular red color into adobe in order to use the color picker tool to get the hex code for the color, then search the CSS for that code and replace it.  I guess that will probably work :)

Hey, no fair using my trick!   :D

(It's a good idea; the only two occurrences I can find for "red" in default's style.css don't seem to have anything to do with that link.)

You're right (as I just found out)!

I couldn't find the particular hex code anywhere, and the two instances of red seem to be related to other things (emote, error text).  I've changed both just to see if it worked, and it didn't so I'm back to square one :)

Got it!!!

So, at first, I was looking in the default CSS, instead of the one for my current theme.  It's tied to the same code that makes the error text red.  I changed:

/* Sometimes there will be an error when you post */
.error{
color: #FF0000;
}

to

/* Sometimes there will be an error when you post */
.error{
color: #FA7500;
}

to change it from Red to Orange, understanding this also affects error text and anything else associated with that color setting.

I'm having this same issue. Everything gets pushed down, and its blank at the top. Anyone come up with a way to fix this yet?? The Demo site has an HTML table in it, so I assume it does work. I hate using BBcode. Takes me forever to do a table correctly...and I have no idea if I can change the background of a BBcode table..

I'm able to use tables without the added space at the top but, for me at least, the solution was to, after all, replace html with bbc.  So:  <table> becomes [ table], <a href > becomes [ url=http:/ /] and so forth.  Not ideal, I suppose, but it did work.

:)

ETA:  I must remember to watch those spaces when posting; forgetting them can really skunk up a post.

Yeah, for now I'm using an HTML editor, then converting the code into BBCode via a website.

Takes a lot of time...and I've screwed up many times, but hopefully in the end it will be done and I won't have to edit again.

Just find it odd that it seems tables work on the demo HTML version...

I tried to install this on SMF 2.0 RC1.2, IT did install without any errors but upon loading the configuration for the mod, there is a error, a lot of weird text.

Will this be updated for use on SMF 2 RC1.2 anytime soon?

there is another solution for this, you can use tables (html) but code needs to be in one line...

if you have something like this:
<table border="1">
<tr>
  <td>100</td>
  <td>200</td>
  <td>300</td>
</tr>
<tr>
  <td>400</td>
  <td>500</td>
  <td>600</td>
</tr>
</table>

you have to put it in the box (Dozen pages cp) like this:
<table border="1"><tr><td>100</td><td>200</td><td>300</td></tr><tr><td>400</td><td>500</td><td>600</td></tr></table>

I make no secret I like your stuff, Dep. They work well and you include english-british-UTF8 so no errors in the admin log and language strings which need adding.

One question : I'm using the mod to add a Links to other sites page. Is there a way I can make someone's banner clickable so if someone clicks onto that banner it will take them directly to that site using a URL instead of an embedded code?

For those who are with problems using HTML...

Some people are trying to smash a antz with a nuclear weapon. Of course you can include HTML in your pages, but that doesn't mean that you have to use it. In many if not most cases BBCodes are easier to use and get the same results.

I compose my pages in ordinary posts in a test forum in the same way. Then just paste it into the modification's pages when you are satisfied with the results. You can do this with text, BBCodes and HTML.

Most people who is using HTML, can have the same result with BBC  :P

before you ask, you may want the link to open in the same window, use "iurl" tag instead of just "url" tag, however this is more useful when making internal links

I'm probably the only person to screw this up, but I've buggered this one.

leafboxtea.com

I installed the package and had to do the manual edits to my theme.  Not a problem, it's there -- just in the wrong spot and it looks horrible.

In the default theme, it works as designed on my installed theme its working wonky (that's a technical term).

Go to the website above and look at it.  Can't find it?  It's in dark lettering on the right end of the menu "About Us".  I wanted to put it next to the forum tab (in the default theme that's where it is), but at this point I might settle for just having it look correct.

Where do I start to work on this?  I'm not sure which file is going to handle this (I'm a newb).  Can someone help me troubleshoot this out?

If you placed the mod's edits in your custom theme's index.template.php and index.php, did you also place the edits in your theme's language folder, Modifications.english.php?
Title: Re: Bakers Dozen Pages
Post by: Prometheus Fire on October 29, 2009, 09:23:30 AM
The theme's language folder doesn't have that file so I assume that it uses the file from the default theme.  That one was been modded properly by the Dozen Pages installer.

I copied that one over into the theme's language folder now - no change.  Problem still there.

I had to drag my mouse over the red portion to get "About Us" to even show up.  I don't find the Baker's Dozen Tab, though.  Can you attach your theme's index.template.php and index.php?

Edit:  I see...  "About Us" will be your new page.

Your index.template.php is correct and, since I've never used a custom theme, myself, I'm assuming that the index.php reverts back to the SMF default index.php.

Is your forum's language set in Admin to English, or to English-utf8?
Title: Re: Bakers Dozen Pages

It is set to English

I do notice this difference between the edits for the button that this mod places in your index.template.php and the coding that your theme uses for all the other buttsons:  "class="

The mod's edits are:  class="maintab_'
Your theme's coding for buttons is:  class="chosen"'

Have you tried replacing all the incidents of: class="maintab_' with ' class="chosen"' to see what happens?

EDIT:   I'm sorry, I have to take off for a doctor appointment, but I'll check back in when I return to see where you are on this.

Break what?
As you could see, there were a few minor changes. The "chosen bit" could have been left there and it wouldn't have mattered, it would have just been un-needed code.

Just referencing your "If it ain't broke, I can fix it 'til it is".

New issue with this has come up. It works fine with BBCode and I've got a few pages formatted with it.

I tried doing one up with html (I want the flexibility) and used the   tags to enclose the code but it all comes up wrong and lousy with the code exposed and generally not working.

What experiences have you guys had in working in html with this mod? Any idea what the problem is? Linky: http://leafboxtea.com/pages/?sa=2

hrm ... love this mod. Extremely useful.

One question though .... i'm trying to change the link that the mod creates in the menu from a text link to an image and i'm admittedly brain dead on it.  I've tried a couple of variants but nothing seems to work.  I'm on SMF 1.1.11 with a heavily modified version of the Babylon theme.  Here's the code from the index.template.php that the mod generated:

// Show the [pages] button.
global $user_info, $modSettings;
if ($user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']))
echo ($current_action == 'pages' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'pages' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pages">', !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'], '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'pages' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

The mod itself does everything it's supposed to and works like a charm ... just ... must .. have .. image button!  >.<

Much appreciated in advance!

Cheers!

Yes sir........... that's ok..... but, but.......... I need two SETS of dozen pages...............

W

Great idea!    Do you mind packing it?

For RC2 only.

I managed to make a second set of this mod.  For the pros out there, do you mind telling me why is not saving my settings in admin when creating pages?

It installs just fine.  Renamed everything to bakers_dozen2 in all files and coding but no go.  ???

File Attached.

Thanx,
Mick.

Maybe you should rename that attached file if it performs the before mentioned function, so it doesn't confuse anybody.
Even better would be a to put it in its own thread.
In relation to your query, did you make the edits for the db?

I think so...

<?php

if (file_exists(dirname(__FILE__) . '/SSI.php') && !defined('SMF'))
require_once(dirname(__FILE__) . '/SSI.php');
elseif (!
defined('SMF'))
die('<b>Error:</b> Cannot install - please verify you put this in the same place as SMF\'s index.php.');

updateSettings(array(
'dozen_pages2_enable_guest_access' => 1,
'dozen_pages2_enable_member_access' => 1,
));

if(
SMF == 'SSI')
echo 'Database settings successfully made!';

?>

Hrm ... ok, so I solved my initial question on my own through various bouts of trial and error, but I have another question, if I may ..

When using additional pages, is it possible to remove the links that the mod generates to all the other pages?  Currently, I have 3 custom pages, all of widely varying content with their own links from the main menu ... I'd really like users to not see the links that the mod generates with each additional page. =/

Much thanks in advance

Cheers!

If I understand correct, you want to remove where it says: *Page 1  *Page 2 etc etc  on the pages themselves?
If so, there are a few ways of achieving this depending on how you'd like the page displayed visually.
Where you make the change is in the DozenPages.template.php
To display the pages without that 'title bar' and no border, you change the code in the template to
function template_main()
{
global $context;

/* echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div class="helpmenu titlebg" style="padding: 4px;">
', $context['dozen_pages_menu'], '
</div> */
echo '
<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg2">
', $context['dozen_pages_contents'], '
</div>
</div>
';
}

Or to keep a border around the page you change it to
function template_main()
{
global $context;

echo '
<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">
<div style="padding: 2ex;" id="helpmain" class="windowbg2">
', $context['dozen_pages_contents'], '
</div>
</div>
';
}

There are others way to achieve this, and other visual options you have, but these are the more simple options, and will achieve what you desire, if I read your post right ;)

Hello all,

I love this mod but i am having some issues on one of my sites.

I am using heavily moded SMF 1.1.11 with Black Rain V2 theme by Crip. I always seem to have issue with the menu buttons on manual edits.

I tried using <span> as all the other button on this theme use but i keep getting errors no matter where i place it. I just don't understand the code enough.

attached is my index.template.php file and a picture of what it looks like now.

Can someone help me with the proper code to display the menu button (named Glamis) correctly? Thanks!

Thanks

Rob

It already works on RC3.

1- Download the RC2 package from the mod site.

2- Go into the BROWSE PACKAGES PAGE on your forum.
3- At the bottom right side of page there is a link that says ADVANCED.
4- Click on ADVANCED and more info will appear.
5- Change the textbox info from "SMF 2.0 RC3" to "SMF 2.0 RC2".
6- Hit APPLY.

7- From the DOWNLOAD PACKAGES PAGE on your forum you can just upload the package as normal and install.
8- Once finished, go back and change the RC2 to RC3 in step #5 above.

Works like a charm!

I got it to install on RC3 first time without need for Emulation. Give it a shot, Welshbikers, then if not use C4G-TK's workaround.

Hello!  Very excited to use this mod on our freshly updated RC3 smf forum!  I'm glad to hear it works for this version!

Having a problem with installation:

I get the Test Failed message on the first modification: ./Sources/Subs.php
I manually changed that part in that file, but it gave back the same failed message.
I did the Browse Packages -> Advanced -> change it over to RC2 thing as well.

Here is that part of my Sub.php file, but I have also attached the whole thing.

'help' => array(
'title' => $text['help'],
'href' => $scripturl . '?action=help',
'show' => true,
'sub_buttons' => array(
),
),
'pages' => array(
'title' => !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label']) ? $modSettings['dozen_pages_tab_label'] : $txt['dozen_pages_tab_default'],
'href' => $scripturl . '?action=pages',
'show' => $user_info['is_guest'] ? !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_guest_access']) : !empty($modSettings['dozen_pages_enable_member_access']),
'sub_buttons' => array(
),
),

Thank you very much for your help!

I have not gone through with the install because of this warning message that appears when tests fail:
QuoteError in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

Mabley, you might try pulling your Subs.php from your server onto your desktop.  Then upload a clean, fresh Subs.php from your RC3 zip to your server and proceed with the installation.  If you are successful, then place this mod's manual RC3 edits in the Subs.php you saved onto your desktop and then upload it to your server.  (This will not only allow this mod to function properly, but will preserve the edits of any other mods you have that use this file.)

You might want to revert your emulator back to RC3 (if you've changed it) before you begin.

Guys, please read mableys primary post, your reply's are of steps already taken, or unnecessary.
Although you have already manually installed the code to your subs.php, this will not stop the error popping up on installation. The idea would be to click install even though it is showing the error, Then replace your subs.php with the one you've manually edited. note: if uninstalling the mod, you will have to manually remove that code.
I can't see why it wouldn't accept the installation as the layout you've provided is correct.
Anyhow, the above method will work for you.

I've had the error show up more than once.

Am I reading the URL correct though in the error log?  Is it stating that page 5 is pulling the error?

The reason that I am asking is because I double checked every edit and not just the theme edit.  Everything was correct.  I went into the admin section where you type ion your pages and I don't have any information on page 5.  ???  I don't even have that page checked to show since there isn't any info on it.  I went ahead and cleared the forum cache again and will report back if it shows up again.  But, after looking at the URL, I found it odd that it would say that page 5 is where the error flags.

Big fan of this mod and we love it at our site.

QUESTION:  I'd like to make the text boxes for entering in the content bigger.  Where can I find that?  Right now they are tiny little boxes.  I would like to make them bigger so we can actually edit the pages there on the page, and not have to take it to a text editor.

I'm working on a modified version of the Post It SMF Theme here:
http://autismforum.pixelita.net

I modified the theme template to place the link to the Baker's Dozen Pages "Page" (in my case called "Menu") in the top nav.  Works just fine. The ONLY issue I have -- and this is something the mod developer should consider in any event -- is the HARD CODED style within the mod itself which causes the following code to be rendered:

<div class="tborder" style="margin-top: 1ex;">

Styles should be left to the stylesheet; not hard-coded into the template.  The site would look perfect BUT FOR this piece of styling code.  I tried modifying the template, and rezipping the entire distro, but when I tried to install that modified zip file, SMF bellyached that the file was corrupted.  Any workarounds?  I mean, if you just put a STYLE HOOK there, then folks could adjust it as they need.  :)

Thanks.

Can't you mod this into :

<div class="tborder" id="pages">

or so?

Yup, working fine in 2.0.1

QUESTION:  Any idea on how to get the pages to show up in a drop-down from the nav menu?

How can I change the page title colors. They presently use:
/* Sometimes there will be an error when you post */
.error
{
color: red;
...unless of course, this is an actual error.

Any ideas?

Thanks as per usual.

I can't find the page. (I know there's a bad joke in there somewhere.) All I can locate is a /Sources/DozenPages.php and a /Themes/default/DozenPages.template.php.

If you're asking me if I altered the .error CSS, then no, I haven't. I notice also that my "The Rules" mod uses the same .error CSS for the page(s) title that that mod creates.

If you have further instruction, I'll gladly cooperate.

I have installed this, but because I already have the Menu Editor Lite mod installed, I am not seeing the new tab on the top.  Please can you tell me what the URL of the tab and pages would be, in order to add the button manually.  Thank you :)

I am using the Dozen Pages mod on my site. Although the first page I entered works well, it seems some of the pages are bugged and dont save/keep the text I input. Anyone has encountered such a problem before? Any solutions?

Thank you very much

Try to update your pages with simple material to make sure it isn't your content itself that is causing the problems.

Also note this mod has not beeen updated to use the new integration hooks yet, although I doubt that is your problem.

I have a question about page content, Deprecated.

I want to put a news widget on my page.

I know you said to enclose all HTML with BBC HTML tags. If I do use the BBC HTML tags and put the widget info between them, nothing shows up on the page.  However (and here's the odd part) if I go to Admin-->News and Newsletters and paste that same exact code into the news text field, enclosed in the BBC HTML tags, it does show up on the forum's news area. The code below is exactly how I pasted it onto the new page, which doesn't show.  It's also exactly how I pasted it into News, which does.

Should I add some sort of extra tags around the CSS and Javascript?  I would think that since it's viewable on SMF's News feature, it should be viewable on the page, if I could just sort it.   :-\

[html]<!--start news gadget -->
<style type="text/css">
#bm1465081170754 div.bmfeedItem{margin-bottom:1em;overflow:hidden;zoom:1}
#bm1465081170754 img{float:left;margin-right:5px;}
#bm1465081170754 div > p:first-child{margin-top:0}
#bm1465081170754 div > p:last-child{margin-bottom:0}
</style><script type="text/javascript" id="bm1465081170754_scr">
(function(){
var id="bm1465081170754",d=document.createElement("div");d.id=id;
var me=document.getElementById(id+"_scr");me.parentNode.insertBefore(d,me);
var s=document.createElement("script");s.type="text/javascript";s.charset="utf-8";
s.src="http://www.cstnews.com/bm~feed.js?12-90;count=5;desc=1;image=1;target=;id=bm1465081170754";
setTimeout(function(){d.appendChild(s);d=me=s=null;},1);})();
</script>
<!--end news gadget -->[/html]

The code is too complex for the baker's dozen mod. Why not just post it as the news box?

Also,. don't mistake me for somebody who has any expertise in web coding. I have some experience getting this stuff to work from several years ago, but even then it was with the help of the folks around here. I'm just trying to be helpful if possible.

Well...   I did have it in the news box at first, but it's so large that it pushed the forum way down.  I've been thinking of making a new page with SimplePortal but, again, it's not showing up.  I guess I'm just curious as to why SMF's News feature allows it to show, just by sandwiching the code between two BBC HTML tags but SMF mods don't?  It's  real head-scratcher.   :-[

Well, like I say, I'm no expert, but I know a mod doesn't necessarily have the same code rendering capability as SMF itself depending on how it's written.

I finally ended up making a new page in SimplePortal and pasting the code in there.  I didn't need any tags other than what's in the widget itself.  It doesn't show up on Preview, but it does render correctly when you create the page.  Then I put a button on the menu that links directly to the page and Bob's Your Uncle!   :D

Thanks, Tiribulus.   :)

Can't help you. The mod wasn't designed to be compatible with HTML BBcode tags. As previously said, use News.

----

QuoteInstalling on default theme I get an error on the ./Sources/Admin.php

Likely another mod package stepped on the search key.

Never install a mod if you get an error indication before you hit install.

To fix this it either requires more expertise than you have or more patience than I have. My mods do not step on search keys.

Even then, the way that old mods work (pre-hook), mods are sensitive to order of installation and often cause conflicts, either during installation or removal.

I'll be going 100% hook based mods when SMF 2.1 stable is released.

well, when you get an error and install anyway - why do you expect things to work?
http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Error_in_mod_installation

Also, you have to SET UP the pages in the admin, modifications section...
This doesn't just put tabs... it defines the main page content in a simplistic editor (not wysiwyg).
read the actual mod description and instructions

Never install a mod if an error test fails, excepting in themes you don't use and won't ever use.

I know exactly what happened. Somebody else's mod crapped the install point that adds the tab, I think that may be Admin.php if my memory serves me.

Fixing it is a much harder problem. You have to find what got stepped on and fix that, or uninstall, reinstall and note what file and what line or mod, and then manually edit that in.

Baker's Dozen installs one tab giving access to 13 pages you add your own content to. You can have anywhere between 1 to 13 pages. Thus the mod's name.

As stated above, you can configure the mod but you can't access it until you fix your mod package collision.

OK, this is going to get a little weird......  :P

Deprecated, you asked me to post here so here goes.......

Quote
One button (with a name you pick) on the main menu then clickable links to as many pages as you have enabled, maximum 13. (Pages not enabled don't appear.) The links run across the top of the page you get when you click the main button and you pick what each link says, and fill in the contents with your text. Just think of it as a button that links to up to 13 pages you can flip back and forth between.

In the topic linked above you had given me a link to the add tabs mod. Later you described it's functions as the Bakers Dozen mod. So long story short..... the add tabs mod works nothing like the Bakers Dozen but once I installed Bakers Dozen it works exactly as you described. I like it and I'm really glad you have any of the links open in a new tab. It works good and I got no warnings when installing. I also do not have any errors spamming my error log as I did when I added my own custom button. An added benefit of using Bakers Dozen over adding a custom button with sub buttons is Bakers Dozen will not see any of the lack of functionality on mobile devices. :)

Thanks!

PS, does your donations button allow for donations through Paypal?

Post by: Deprecated on September 11, 2016, 05:34:05 PM
Sorry I got confused, but it appears to have worked out. If it's the topic I'm thinking, the one where you were going to manually edit code, then I'm glad you found a mod that does it with no code editing.

No I don't accept donations any more. The only reason the button is still there is (1) can't edit the OP in my support topic, and (2) too lazy to go through all the mods and edit out the donation links. I got so few donations that the difference few and zero was insignificant to me. Thanks anyway!
