ok i used the package manager in the admin panel to install it and i found shout box in edit features and options but how the heck do i enable this thing?
Yep i am also having the same prob installed it from the package manager shows up in the admin area but does not have a seting to turn on or even does not show up in my forum.
Quoting the package info XML file:
After installation you will need to add the shoutbox to your template. To do this just call the smfshout(); function
from somewhere within your template. You may need to add it as ', smfshout();, ' if you are inside an echo statement.

i am new to smf so i realy dont get what you are trying to say about just call the smfshout(); function so if i am using the default theme that comes install with smf i would need to go in that folder look for the file named Themes.template.php and add this code into it some where ', smfshout();, ' and it will work? am i on the right path here lol :) ?
please read the shout mod's thread, there is specific instructions on how to add it, and a couple of examples.
