Title: Problem with new memebers
Post by: glennk on November 05, 2008, 07:28:26 AM
Im having a problem with new members. It says there is one member awaiting approval.

When I approve this member they do not show as the forums newest member, and the message "one member awaiting approval" stays at the top of the board. However when I click on the link the member is no longer in the list awaiting approval.

Error log says :

Quotehttp://www.whitbyseaanglers.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=admin;area=viewmembers;sa=browse;type=approve
Apply Filter: Only show the errors with the same message
8: Undefined index: totalMembers
Apply Filter: Only show the errors from this file

Strange. Any other errors in your Error Log? SMF version? Mods installed?

Bug #690: Member Approval Doesn't approve members (http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=690)

I think this was fixed in the current build, what specific version of SMF are you using and when was it downloaded?

Its the latest one and I downloaded only yesterday. There are no more erros in the log than the one above.

I just tried to set up an account on the forum. It allowed me to register.

Then when I go into the site, it shows a user waiting to be registered, but then I click to register and there is no names in the list.

Re-opened :) We'll let you know when a fix is made available, sorry for the inconveniences. You might want to use another method for member approval or go with 1.1.6?

OK Thanks for the reply. Do I need to keep bookmarking this topic and coming back ??

In the meantime what alternative ways are there to approve members ??

Admin CP -> Members -> Registration -> Settings tab:
Method of registration employed for new members:
I recommend 'Member activation'
