Is it possible to have SMF refuse e.g. @hotmail.com adresses at registration/emailchange?
you can use the ban members function in your admin section
i believe there's also a hack a while back, try search for it.
Ok in adminpanel I entered:
Ban Type
E-mail: *@mailinator.com
And I selected 'can't register'.
Now, when I create an account (the normal user-way) I can still register using a mailinator.com adress? What did I overlook?
The wildcard may be %. I believe it says.
You may have to make sure you're totally logged out first.

Well I've banned hotmail accounts in the same way and I don't have any problems. Maybe you have mistyped?
I copied the banned @mailinator.com and pasted it when registering. So it should have been banned.
Just tried it on my test board:
Ban email address
*@mailinator.com
Can't register
Reason: this is a test
Then I logged out, and tried to register with the email address
[email protected]:
An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry, you are not allowed to register on this forum!
Reason: This is a test
I just tried it using a full emailadress to see if the asterisk (*) is giving any problems, however that won't be cut from registration either. Perhaps I should mention I'm on Mambo+SMF. Does that require tweaking?
Well I'm not 100% sure but I think that Mambo has it's own registration controls.
It does but since deleting users is also best done in SMF (right?) i"d figure that the email-ban option would work. If not, I would really like some kind of tweak, as it's a much wanted item.
Probably the Mambo component isn't doing registration ban checking.

Correct, it doesn't exist in Mambo. But since it does exist in SMF, isn't there any way at all at getting it going?
I'm sorry, I was unclear:
The Mambo integration uses a SPECIAL registration script, which is not Mambo's and is not SMF's registration. This was written by Orstio and I do NOT BELIEVE i t supports banning. Of course this is possible, but what I'm saying is pretty simple:
You are bypassing SMF's registration code, and that's why this is not working. Just because you're using another party's registration code (which happens to be not that of Mambo either, but of the integration component) doesn't mean it should work.
