i think it´s a great mod

but is it possible to get this for smf 1.1.7 and show it as a link in the menubar instead of display the custom field in memberlist ?

special regards

Its a Good Mod,

I have enabled the option under custom profile field.

But i have never noticed any change on the members list both on Default theme as well as custom theme.

I found that, as soon as we install the mod.

I got the last active user mod is not working , its now showing the last 24 hours active user on the board index.

And not sure how to use this mod. Any Guidance.

Jessikard:
Mr_JimWest:

Unfortunately no. This mod uses default Custom Profile Fields feature of SMF 2.0. You may want to make a request to the author of the Custom Profile Fields mod for SMF 1.1.x.

A.SK:

I've installed both of them and everything is okay. What's the problem?

See the second screen shot on the mod page. You should check the option from the profile field settings for each profile you want to show on member list.

First i have not understood the mod, no i know the functionality.

I have reinstalled and found that there is no such link on the permission page.

Even i dont have any options of add permissions button.

This mod does not do anything related to permissions. It only adds an option for each profile field to show them on memberlist on or not.

I upgraded from 2.0 beta 3.1 to 2.0RC1 without uninstalling the mod first. If the install.php file wouldn't be there i knew that it will not be a problem just to install it again, but i want to make sure:
install.php checks if the raws that want to create are already there, and will not double them?
Is it ok just to reinstall the mod (the new version) and not to worry about the information install.php puts in the database? :-?

If you could make it so that you could choose any of the default fields of the profile to the memberlist as well this would be the best mod of its kind.

May I ask a stupid question - exactly what "custom fields" does it add to the member list... or do we create our own?
Title: Re: Custom Fields On Memberlist
Post by: Antechinus on March 22, 2009, 01:36:31 AM
They're actually custom profile fields which are added using the standard RC1 ability for these. The mod enables you to opt to show them on the memberlist as well as in profile.

Title: Re: Custom Fields On Memberlist

Ok. I've modified this mod so that it will work with SMF RC2.0

Make sure you didn't have it installed before the update to SMF RC2. If you had it installed then extract the package, open with notepad

package-info.xml  and delete this line:
<code type="file">install.php</code>

After that repackage, delete from the server the former zip, upload this one and it should work.

I'm not quite good on the new syntax SMF uses in the new 2.0, so when you are in the admin area/custom fields/modify a custom field, the 'show on memberlist' option will be out of the line a bit, but that's not a problem, you only set this up once, and the members are not affected with anything. Just your eyes of an admin.

Besides this admin-only visual bug, the mod works VERY WELL!

Hiya Sinan when you get a sec could you update this for RC2 please?

I just used the one from shumilica, it seemed to work but I got a database error. Even though it looks like it's installed it still says "Install" in the package manager.

Thank you in advance

Anyone have a version that works with 1.1.11 for us retros still stuck in the past?  I get an error from Pkg Mgr that this is incompatible with my version (or is corrupt which I don't think is the case.)

Thanks

Looks like shumilica's RC2 version fails to add the table to the database and assumes it is already there...

The table is there since SMF 2.0 RC2 has the table, but it's not called "custom_fields" it is named by whatever you set to DB Prefix to be for instance on my forums it's called "smf_custom_fields". If you open the Install.php from the zip and edit the two instances of "custom_fields" to "DBPrefix_custom_fields" replacing DBPrefix with your specific prefix then upload and install it works. :)

I've made the edits for RC3 and changed the mod version to 1.1 to reflect this. Hope I did this correctly and the original authors of the mod don't mind, but since the question was posed several months ago about whether this was ported/working for RC3 yet and it seemed like no one was working on it, I thought I'd give it a shot.

I've installed it on my forum (RC3) and it seems to be working fine. Here's the package.

--- edit --- unfortunately, the attachment had to be removed as it violated the license of the original released mod.

Hey, i have another question. I'm using this code:

<a href="http://www.xfire.com/profile/{INPUT}" target="_blank" title="Xfire Accountname - {INPUT}"><img src="{DEFAULT_IMAGES_URL}/icons/xfire.ico" alt="Xfire Accountname - {INPUT}" /></a>

To show a symbol for the xfire account near the other AIM/ICQ symbols and this works without a problem. But when i use this hack it shows only the {INPUT} xfire Name of the user in the memberlist, not the symbol and the link to his profile.

How can i change this to show the code above in the memberlist?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

Edit:  Previously, I had tried to install this mod on SMF 2.0 (Final) via the author's download.  I had errors.  I saw et10yl's version for SMF 2.0 RC3 (here (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=276734.msg2768002#msg2768002)) and gave it a shot.  It worked fine.  Thanks!

I managed to add a custom profile field with a Checkbox, thus producing a Yes/no value.  This is basically what I want:

If CustomField = Yes Then
Show Picture
Else
Don't Show Picture
End If

How would I configure my settings to do this, or what code do I have to edit?

I managed to get rid of a bunch of fields on my Members List.  Under Custom Fields, I unchecked the Active Box for AIM, ICQ, YIM, MSN, Posts, and that worked fine.  My apologies, I didn't see this before.  There are other fields I'd like to get rid of, but I assume that's for another thread.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is extremely old, but I'm having this same error.  I'm completely new at this.  Any ideas anyone?

EDIT:  Never mind.  Got it working.

Hi,

there was a compatible version of the mod posted some time ago here:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=276734.msg2768002#msg2768002

Unfortunately this was removed, maybe ask the creator via PM.

I went ahead and did a manual installation of Custom Fields On Memberlist - for 2.0.11

However after the installation I get thrown this database error after clicking on 'View the Memberlist'

Unknown column 'show_mlist' in 'where clause'
File: /home/xlhforum/public_html/forum/Sources/Memberlist.php
Line: 89

I'm unsure what i've done wrong since I've followed the instructions perfectly.

I appreciate any help - many thanks!

^-- you also need to upload and execute the install.php file that's included in the mod package.

I'm sorry, do you mean I need to unzip the mod package, and upload and replace the current install.php file?

(Apologies, I've not done a manual install install before). - I just want to get it right before I break an already working forum.
Title: Re: Custom Fields On Memberlist
Post by: Shambles on February 21, 2016, 01:04:08 PM
If you've already made the custom file edits, then yes you need to do what the install.php file would do if executed via the package manager (as it contains the database table creation commands, which is what you're missing).

But it has to be executed, not simply uploaded.

I'm really sorry for being a prat, but how do I execute the file once I upload it?

Also, whats the location of install.php, I'm unable to find the current file on the server.

Thank you!

Upload the file to (for example) your forum root, then point your browser at it

http://yourdomain.com/forum/install.php

Remember to delete the file once you've done that.

Try uploading the install.php file to the directory/folder that contains SSI.php, then run it from there.

If it's already there, or still doesn't execute, then I'd go straight to your phpmyadmin (via cPanel) and just add the required column manually.

It is a mod something old and can be changed the code ... you can try emulating the version in smf to see if it works properly.

I haven't done a manual installation before.  When you go to http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1520, select 2.0.15 from the drop down and click parse there is a set of very clear instructions, except for the very last bit which says:

"install.php
This file should be able to execute standalone."

Does that mean that I have to upload the file install.php from the mod to somewhere e.g. forum folder?  Also do I then have to navigate to the file with my browser to launch an installer?

What you need to do is proceed to the installation of the mode and the moment in which the genders have made an error to apply the instruction manual, once done, proceed to install it even with the installation error. If ah did the right steps, the modification should work ...

Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean.  I can't begin the installation of the mod, because if I click "install mod"  the result is a long list of errors preceded by this message:

"Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF."

So I'm not going to proceed under these conditions.

My mistake, since my English is not good. I will try to explain myself as best as possible ... When installing the mod you will see those errors because you can not automatically detect the lines you need to modify possibly modify it. What we are doing is making those modifications manually so that when installing this fact the necessary modifications, I mean?

Hmmmm?  OK Rock Lee let me see if I can translate the semantics of your post.

Are you saying:  "make the changes listed on the manual install page for this mod for SMF 2.0.15 and then run the installer.  After making those changes, run the installer in the Package manager and will be no errors listed, so it's then safe to go ahead and install"

Thanks Rock Lee, that's very clear now.  I don't think I'll do it on a working forum though, it's a lot of editing required.  Might try it on a backup test forum and see what happens.  It's a pity that someone doesn't want to upgrade this mod for 2.0.15.

Thanks again : )

It is preferable to first experiment in a test. The author is still active but I do not know if he could update it, because by copyright not any subject can get his hands ... extra officially layers but here you can not.

Yes - although it does have a minor bug (not specifically related to SMF 2.0.17) that results in no information being displayed for a member using the default option for a custom field if the member has not saved their profile with that option selected.

The fix for this is as follows:

In ./Sources/Memberlist.php
Find:
SELECT col_name, field_name, field_desc, field_type, bbc
Add After:
, default_value

Find:
'bbc' => !empty($row['bbc']),
Add After:
'default' => $row['default_value'],

In ./Themes/default/Memberlist.template.php
Find:
<td class="windowbg centertext">', $member['options'][substr($key, 5)], '</td>';
Replace With:
<td class="windowbg centertext">', (empty($member['options'][substr($key, 5)]) && isset($column['default']) ? $column['default'] : $member['options'][substr($key, 5)]), '</td>';

You apply the fix after installing the mod.

If you're getting errors when trying to install the mod you'll have to manually to apply the changes this mod is trying to make - see https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Error_in_mod_installation

I'm late to the party on this mod, but does this mean you can restrict certain profile fields by membergroup?

I have some fields to fill out that are not applicable to some of my membergroups, and as such I'd prefer they not even know they are there.
