Remove "Logged" and IP Image

What this MOD will do:
This MOD will remove the "Logged" text and the IP image in posts.  Members will NOT be able to see their IP in posts.  Admins will still be able to see it though.

For 1.1.x only.

So this mod will stop all but admins seeing IPs in posts?
Global mods etc wont be able to see them?

Just like most other forum software.

Thanks for this, some of my members that are young are asking me what an IP is, since they can see theres, they ask me "why can't i see others??"

I have a board in wich user can anonymous tell there story. Before they saw the ip adress from other members.. and now they dont.

Hmm.  I tested this on a clean install on 1.1.7 and admins could still see it, can you attach your Display.Template?

I installed it on a fresh install also, and I as admin couldnt see any IPs.
Your mod removes all the code to display the IP does it not?

Anywho, I couldn't figure it out, so changed it a little.
I repackage the mods instead of doing the manual edits, that way I can uninstall without editing a template.
Here is what I've packaged if you'd like to look.
Its a bit rough, but meh.. Im no coder lol

I made this MOD more as something that I think should be default (as opposed to being a MOD author with this just being my first), I'm not an expert coder ;)

Where you say  "I'm not an expert coder", I'd reply that I'm not one at all!! lol
I know a little about a little..... thats all.
But if my little edits help, then I'm glad to have been of assistance. But if there is a cleaner way to code it, then please do so :)

The edits are fine (as they just allow the admin to see it), but I may remove the IP image for admins, as it gets annoying.

oh.. oke :D well.. personally i like the image.. but that's everyone there own opinion off course ;)

Zip file yes.
There is a zip file attached to your mod.

Upload it just like any normal MOD, and apply it.

Can someone tell me how I could allow a special group to also view IPs? I want to use this but I have a hidden Moderator group that looks like regular users and they won't be able to access this after I apply.

I could put a permission on it, but I won't be able to get to that until atleast a month from now. Really busy lately.

For RC3 , you can try manually:

Go to Display.template.php and remove piece of code corresponding to one in mode Parse for 1.1.8.

In RC3, it is between:

and

Sorry, I changed this a while ago, and don't know how original code looks.

Then put there identical piece of code that can be find in Mode Parse as replacement for 1.1.8.
And it should work.

Any chance you might be able to allow other groups to see the IP?  If you don't want to create a new permission and all the bother of defining it in the admincp, how about riding on the Moderate Board permission?  If the member can moderate the board, they can see the IP.

Admittedly a quick and dirty solution, but if that give some ability to see IPs by our 2nd level admin types, it's better than not being able to restrict our regular members from seeing the IPs.

I see the last post is 2009 for this mod. So I'm assuming there have been a number of version changes to the SMF script since then. I'd like to use this mod on 2.0.14 but even emulating isn't working. 2.0.14 says the package is corrupt. Emulating says not to install. Both files fail the test and only one has a manual change suggestion next to it.

If this doesn't work is there a way to turn these off in admin panel of 2.0.14? I think some people will question what is being logged.

this mod is for 1.1.x
it will not work on 2.0.x.

there is no function to turn off those items (by turning them off, you could actually be in violation of letting people be aware that the information is stored and can be tracked)
