You can use better icons than these but there size will increase for sure, so take these icons only if you are not concerned about the image sizes.

Note : I am using png files instead of gif for clear looks.
For these icons to work, use the mod packages provided here.

Great Mod!

But I think the icons are too few. There is ONLY 10 icons in the package, but we have more than 20+ popular file types.

Hope the author can add icon for each different filename extension, such as : different icons for zip and rar format, not the same pack.gif for them all.

Thanks.

I would like, but I don't have much time (and talent) to create icons.  :-[

You can easily add icons.

For example, if you like add an icon for RAR file, Upload a file rar.gif to the folder $imagesdir/fileicons/.

Thanks for your comment.  :)

PD: If someone creates a complete set of icons (which aren't subject to any restrictive license, or based in images with license), can contribute and would be great.

Post by: baijianpeng on January 20, 2009, 09:30:24 PM
If this Mod can Automatically detect the icon file by the filename as extension name, that is great! Because we can even has our own images set for icons.

I think icons is not difficult to find. There are several websites that offering free icon images without any license restrict.

I installed this mod with no problem but my icons will not show. I tested a couple different ways and also copied over the fileicon folder to the default themes image folder and also my custom themes image folder. I even copied it into the theme/images/icons/ folder and they still do not show when i attach something.

What is the problem here ?

also is there any setting for this anywhere ??

No settings, install and work.

Have you copy the images to the folder themes? ($themedir/images/fileicons/)

Can you give me a url sample? :)

yes, i copied them into this one themedir/images/ and in this one themedir/images/icons/
so its basically like so:

forum/Themes/cargo115/images/fileicons/

even in the default theme.

so i have them copied in all those spots and still dont work. The only reason i went a head and put in all those different directory's is cause the main one as you stated wasnt working so..

The forums private so... You wouldnt be able to tell with a forum URL

Not sure why they are not showing up.. Thxs for the help so far tho :)

If not, just think it must be because the images aren't in the dir.

I wanted a URL topic's, to see directly whether the images are where they should be, and if are using a URL with images.

Abstract: Check in the topic, the URL image's isn't shown. Then check if there are images in that dir. :)

I have the images in ever image folder and icon folder directory i have on that theme. I did that on purpose just to see if they was going to show up even that way. I have them in the paths i explained above.

That is right correct ??

Of should i take them out of thre folder they came in /fileicons/ and just put them in the images folder by themselves ?? with out being in the /fileicons/ directory inside of the images directory ??

I will private message you and send you the site URL and you can sign up and log in and see what you need to maybe if you like.

Reply back to my private message and let me know what screen name you will use so i know to accept you since its private forum.

Ok, no problem :)

1.- Go to a topic with attachments.

2.- Check the XHTML of this page (the source code).

3.- Look, how is the URL fileicons's.

4.- Compare this URL with the folder fileicons's in your host.

In this case, more faster is: you register a user with the permissions, and then give me via pm this name/pass.

I have added in my sources, if an update occurs, this will be there. :)

Hi M DVD,

This is still not working for me. Sorry been a way for a while. Just had major surgery but..

I just totally redid my sites and forums and well added this mod again and still doesnt work.

I upload the fileicon folder into mythemes/images/
also
defailt-theme/images/icons
also
($themedir/images/fileicons/)

and still not showing anywhere. I even looked up my paperclip image directory with FF extensions "wed developer" as i use all the time to see and make sure where that was located. Then uploaded the fileicon folder in there as well and still nothing.

you can see a post here with attachment i just made. http://xtremestylez.com/support/index.php/topic,966.0.html

Any help and thxs in advanced. :)

You would be best advised to set up a test forum.

The mod will work but a small edit is required in one file.

If you look at the attachment you will see a link with the word parse.

This is what you will need to do.
