Otsikko: Sub-templates ?
Kirjoitti: roxpace - helmikuu 19, 2005, 08:53:01 IP
Hi,

I wonders if it's possible on anyway to have sub-templates which is recently fairly easy to manage ?

For examples, I have a forum section about linguistics, which have it's subforums. I wanna use ONE template on that forum section/category and it's all subtemplates. Then I also have another forum section called communications with own sub-forums where I wanna have it's own template for that forum section/category.

Is this possible and how ?  I know it is possible in phpbb with minor hacking.

Yes. You can create a custom theme for each of those areas, then set SMF to use the appropriate custom theme for that area (Admin -> Manage Boards, click on "Modify" next to a board, select a theme from the list). However, there is one drawback to this - if you have SMF set so that users can choose their own theme, then there is no way to do this without allowing users to choose these custom themes from their profile.

Thanks :)

I have no intention to let the user to choose their template/theme so this will work perfectly I think... But one remaining question since that answer points to the forum settings. Is there any way to do this with Categories also ?

I wanna use a small hack I saw in here to make some sections of the site to only list certain category and with the correct layout.
