Hello all,
I have installed SMF on my webserver and on my localhost.
Both installs went fine and error free.
But on my localhost, i get these errors:
When i try log out: Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.
When i try to visit the admin page: Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.
When i post a message: Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message.
Obviously there is something wrong with the sessions.
I have tried almost any solution i could find in this forum but no success.
Like changing my php.ini to have session files saved in /tmp/php/sessions.
Deleting cookies, re-logging in.. database sessions on/ off...
All without any luck..
What else can i do?
Is the sessions dir writable?
Yes
Did you restart apache after making changes in php.ini?
Yep
edit: sessions are created as well.
example: sess_ec9436975eaedd18eeb95ae3615bc083 and more like them.
So ehhr.. *g*, what can it be?
I keep seeing this annoying 'An Error Has Occurred!'
I was planning to create a template for this forum,..
But now I'm stuck at the very beginning..
Are you using SSI.php or any bridges?
Are you using subdomains or subdomain-independent cookies?
Are you using database driven sessions or regular ones?
Are you running Windows or *nix?

Suse Linux.
All my other webapps work just fine..
Have you tried clearing your cookies? A different browser?
Do you see the session files appearing in the directory, when database driven is off?
Exactly what version of PHP are you using?

YO! :D
It's my mozilla (Firefox 1.0) browser doing it..
I tried konqueror and it seems to work.
All other Moz-based browsers for that matter fail to show smf on my localhost properly.
Which is weird and not very nice, ... any way, thanks a heap!

Strange - I use Firefox 1.0 and on localhost too, without flaw.

My Opera browser also works without any problem...
Firefox has no problem with my webserver located smf though.
Yep it's weird.. but problem solved for me ;)
