hello, i seem to have gotten myself in an odd bind. i originally wanted to put a field in the info box on the left of a post to show "I ride:" since i created a bike site. i did that successfully and had it show up in the profile as well. but now i want "Location:" to show up there too. location is a field in the profile, but now i can't figure out how to put it in the info box. i looked at the tutorial but i think my files have since changed from those and i can't figure it out now. any help would be appreciated and i'm willing to email my display and profile templates if someone can look em over. :D
also, smf update now says all my templates are based on rc1. how can i successfully update them to be based on 1.02 without losing the stuff i've changed about them?

Try $message['member']['location'] or simply searching this forum for the word "location".

right. i think what happened was i changed the "location" field last time to "i ride:" so i've actually done it at some point. i made a change that i THOUGHT should display "location:" in the poster info box but it doesn't work. since location is already being used in the profile i guess i'm just looking for a way to show that info in the post into box. it's strange because i did it successfully with another field, but now i can't get it to work.
