Title: CONVERT - websitetoolbox database
Post by: Dysier on January 14, 2009, 11:10:14 AM
I've put in a request for a converter that will convert a SQL database provided by www.websitetoolbox.com.

I'm not entirely sure what the time delay would be on this, so I thought I would present this task to the community as well.

If anyone is interested in helping with this conversion, (PAID of Course), please PM me.

Our converters need access to the database in order to work. WEbsitetoolbox is a hosted forum and I think you don't have access to the database, so a conversion is allmost impossible.
The only way to "migrate" your forum to SMF is a Grabber.

Try your luck in this topic:

Dysier, is your database dump from MySQL (or is websitetoolbox using a different type of database server)? Maybe we can create a converter, I need to look over the database layout first.. Can you PM me a dump?

No, sorry... I never got a full database dump. without the old DB structure it's impossible to create a converter script.

I'm so sorry...

I am still intending to switch our forum out. Unfortunately, there was so much resistance (during the time I made the original posting) that I'm holding out until everything else has come to some settling point.  The current forum gets a ridiculous amount of attention and having access to past data is very relevant.  We currently have 43,250 posts.  I originally tried to move things over to Agora (again, during this initial transition), but that ended up being a total failure.

I do plan on moving forward with this.  Some major concerns is with regards to the Joomla User database and the forum user database.  There would need to be some user account error checking.

WhiteJC - What sort of time frame are you looking for?

Hello there,
do you still need assistance with this?

Hello-
my first post did not go through

I have Website Toolbox for my fairly active message forum.
It is a disaster. I truly cannot deal with the site outages, the non-existent support and the fact they will not let me embed it into my website... users must leave my site to go to forum and visa versa.
This is a disaster SEO-wise.

If anyone knows how I can migrate Website Toolbox to another platform- Rapidweaver would be ideal because that is how I built my site- I would be grateful for any information.

I don't know how much this would cost, but I will pay for this.

Thank you in advance.

(please note: I only understand about one third of the tech lingo, I am self taught and trying to run a site for women with breast cancer)

Can you please tell a link to your forum? I am not familiar with Website Toolbox, but as said above: if you can have a database dump, then it can be converted and we will look into doing it. (to SMF).

For this, you might want to try to get in touch with Website Toolbox support, and ask for the database dump.

So after searching everywhere (and there will probably pop a "in the open your eyes section) was there, is there a converter for Websitetoolbox forum to SMF as yet?

There hasn't been one made yet. It still isn't clear if you can get a database dump from that service. Are you able to?

Contact websitetoolbox and see if they provide a database backup option.

You would need access to the database or get a convertor that crawls the forum just not as effective.
