Bring back the feature in YaBB SE where it says:
"« Last Edit: November 13, 2003, 06:16:40 PM by User » "
If some kind of intelligent argument is going on users need to see if anyone edited it because it would mess up the rest of what has been said in the thread.
dope sorry
Are u a troll or something. It is that way now. There are however timelimit abou 3mins u can edit your post without that notice. Admins set that time limit.
edit, see ;D
hehe im a smelly troll :'(
Dont cry :P
The default is set to 90 seconds I believe. So if a user notices they screwed something up they can edit their post without that appearing. Set it to 0 if you don't like that :)
how about admins having a little tick box that says "edit by admin" that they can set if they want it to display "edited by Admin" instead of their name...? (sometimes an Admin or mod likes to remain anonymouse in this case....)
so admins can babysit board members that have really bad spelling or grammar?

I could use that.
well that too... but sometimes I've seen some members can get really pissed of at a certain admin for constantly correcting swearing etc... if you could make it "edited by staff" they'd have no one to get angry with...
heh, you could always have a checkbox that allows you not to add any other comment if you edit someones post.
but that could get really evil in debates ;)
If u want edit someones post without that notice, it can be easily done from database. ;)
yea... but why would I waste my time faffing in the database, when this is a far better way to win arguments ;)

Wouldn't it be better if there was an option so that the user is free to edit it without that appearing as long as no other member has viewed the thread since the posting? Or is that too unrealistic to be coded in?
thats not too unrealistic... extra field in the db.. every time a post is made... it could be set as there ip... and the person can edit that post until someone with a different IP views the post (at which point the field changes to "viewed" or something)...
Not too much to ask BUT it would slow your forum down a lot and increase load a lot.

When editing the newest post in a thread, how about just a check whether the page view count incremented since last post?
When viewing a thread, if the current member id == last post's member id, then don't increment the count.
Oh, I guess that would slow the forum down tremendously, to check every page view.
I'm not sure I understand.
Right now, if you go to a topic and hit F5, F5, F5, F5... etc. the views on the topic will not increase.
Right now, if you edit the last post in a topic it will get a new icon on the message index.
However, if you wanted posts editable until it was viewed by someone else, it would take a flag on the post which would have to be updated every page view. This would add a query to every display page and seems like a lot of work for something so small.
