aliciasace, is this issue resolved now?

If you want to upgrade to SMF 2.0 beta, you have to download the large upgrade package for it and overwrite all the files you have with those new files. Then run upgrade.php from your browser. I recommend backing up your database as there are many changes going from 1.1.7 to 2.0 beta and it's basically a one way process unless you restore your backup.
