I have IkonBoard set up on my site right now at http://www.ResidentAssistant.com. About to do an entire overhaul of this site, and would love some imput.
First of all, as you'll see if you visit the site, it was built crudely and is about 2,000 pages of static html. YIKES...
So... I need to switch to some type of content management system, and also I like SMF, and want to switch my forums over.
1) Can I import content from an Ikonboard to a newly installed SMF board?
2) Any suggestiosn for a content management system for a site like this? (one that is relatively straight forward & easy to use, but has good features with it... I'm not a programmer, but have been able to find my way around SMF relatively easily... I would love a content managment system that is equally effective, easy to use & flexible).
3) other feedback welcome.
I just set up a SMF at our corporate site and am using TinyPortal for that purpose, which rocks. (see http://www.campusadv.com/team (un: testing, pw: testing).
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
1. While there is currently no converter to go directly from Ikonboard to SMF, you can convert to phpBB first and then go from there to SMF.
2. Have you looked at Mambo? That's by far the most popular CMS amongst SMF users... See the Mambo Bridge (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=77.0) board for more details...
Thanks. I'll try diving into learning about it. I'm assuming there are tutorials, etc? I'll check it out. thanks for your input.
