Ok, so my host doesn't support zlib, and never will, so I can't use the package manager. I now want a mod which requires like 5000 lines of code replacing, adding after and before. Is there a way I could 'run' install.xml, so I could install it with no effort? I am using SMF 2.0 RC1, here (http://smashbrossaga.uuuq.com/forum/index.php) is my forum, and I have the newest MySQL (whatever version that is!).
If this is in the wrong section, please say. Also, i did search the forum and it didn't come up with much.
Thanks in advance ;)
Unfortunately the package manager won't work if SMF doesn't have a way to extract the files from the archive. If your host refuses to support zlib, then it would be best to find a new host that doesn't disable useful features.
If I did this, could I keep my database or transfer it using the back-up on the new host?
Anyone? I don't know if I bumped less than 24 hours, 12 hours probably. I badly need to know.
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, you should be able to get the entire database if your host allows it. If you are on a free host or ones that hosts SMF for you, they may restrict this. Otherwise, take a look here (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?board=83.0) on how to download the backup and move it to a new host.
