Hey everyone,
This is my first time posting-- up till now, due diligence and a thorough search of the archives lent me the answers to my questions. But now I'm experiencing what seems to be a unique situation.
Over the weekend, my host took my server offline for some upgrades and such. When it came back on line, I found that all my files were missing-- every last one of them. So, I re-installed SMF and loaded my backups for the forum and MySQL. And now, whenever I click a link, I get redirected to a page asking me to sign into PayPal. There's even this nifty little PayPal "donate" icon in my news box. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? And how (if) I can save all the posts in the event that I have to completely start over? This is probably the third time my host has pulled this crap on me, and it's getting a little old to the poor people who visit my forums.
Thanks!
Matt

Have you contacted your host about this issue? What did they reply?
Try re-uploading all the files from the "upgrade" package. Then, I suggest you find a new host ;)
Thanks for the suggestions...
Well, I did just upload all the files from the 1.0.2 upgrade, and then ran the upgrade utility itself. Good news is that I only get redirected to Paypal when I try to login to the Admin page. The bad news is, well, obvious: I can't log into admin.
Any other ideas? Or should I trash everything and do a clean install?
Maybe you just need to make a donation to that paypal account ;)
I think I may see tha cause. Would you be willing to - temporarily - remove the paypal link from your admin center? I know you can't do this right now, because you can't get into the admin center, but...
UPDATE smf_settings
SET value = ''
WHERE variable = 'news';
What is phpMyAdmin? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=21919.0)
Please tell me if that helps at all. I also suggest trying a different browser, such as Firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com/) or Opera (http://www.opera.com/) just in case the cause is spyware.

You know what? I figured out what you meant, and it worked wonders. Everything's great now!
(I guess the Paypal stuff came from a link to the Red Cross for Tsunami relief donations...)
