After upgrading the site to 1.18 from 1.17 I am having some problems.
1 - I am getting the "Sorry, the copyright must be in the template" message
2 - I have lost some functionality in the admin panel. Please see the attached screen shot of the admin panel. you will notice that some links to some functions are gone ie packages.

You should upload a fresh copy of the Language files to your default theme directory language folder... looks like you're missing a lot or they got corrupted some how.
I copied over language files and still the same problem. I changed back all the modified files to 1.17 and still ahd the same proble,. I took a backup of the language files and copied them over which fixed the copyright issue but ended up with more issues. See printscreens. The first is that the post legend at the bottom is missing the text and the second is that the enhanced reply box buttons are missing their text. Any ideas?
You're still missing language files or strings from them.
If English is the only language you use, I would delete all of the language files in your languages folder and upload a fresh copy from the install package.
