I have 2 SMF forums on different hosts. On one of SMF forum, post moderation feature works without a problem. On the other SMF forum it doesn't work. People can post without approval.
Any idea on what the problem may be ?
Go to Admin -> Members -> Permissions -> Post Moderation and verify that things are set the way you want them.

I allready did this. as I said I have this feature working on one of my forums. But on my other forum, it doesn't work for some reason.
today I found that on one of my categories, post moderation works. but on the other categories, it doesn't work ???
Have you recently installed any mods that could have affected this? With 2 forums running on different host, other than checking the settings as Oldiesmann recommended, if they are the same, then the only difference would be the host. Have you compared the server set-ups?

The only thing I can see why this is happening is because of the permissions. Check the permissions for that category where post moderation works and compare it to the others. See what you have for the following:
Post new topics, without requiring approval
Post new topics, but hide until approved
Post replies to topics, but hide until approved
Post replies to topics, without requiring approval
