Otsikko: Why do I have guests still?
Kirjoitti: robertnzana - helmikuu 26, 2009, 05:00:08 IP
I disabled guest viewing on my forum BUT on the stats it says 10 guests are viewing.  Why is this?

It simply means they are viewing an error message that says "You have to either login or register"

You remove the "x guests viewing" from the Who's Online by modifying your themes boardindex file.

Thanks.  Modify it to what though?  :)

I too have the same question. The answer is satisfactory. But when i click on "2guests and 1 user on line". I get to see the actions of these individuals. The 1 user is me. And the each of the 2 guests are shown seeing specific boards. How is it possible? When you refresh the page, you get to see that they are viewing different boards at different times. That gives me a feeling that these so called guests have managed to enter into the forum without registering.
How is this?

That is possible if they have come to a specific link to a board or post on your forum,
or if they are bots and just guessing routes to different boards.
Still, they should not see other than the mentioned error telling them to login or register. :)

SMF reports what they are 'attempting to do' on your site.
Not what they are actually doing.

So if they have no permission they are attempting to view a board, but are seeing a login/register.
