Otsikko: send newsletter members that are into 2 groups at the same time
Kirjoitti: shumilica - helmikuu 28, 2009, 09:07:10 IP
I have an academic forum (it has been 3 years by now  ;D ), for my graduated faculty.

I want to make groups like this:
Year 1, Year 2, Year 3. Then other groups like this: Group("class", if you want) 1, Group 2, group 3, group 4, group 5 etc.

I want this so i can send custom newsletter to... lets say group 3 from the first year, and then, another newsletter, with different text, to group 3  from second year. I know, i can create a hell of a lot membergroups (year 1 - group 1, year 1 - group 2 ...... year 3 group 10), but this would mean a huge page from wich the members will subscribe to the group and a lot of a hassle in the database.

So i want to ask, is there a way to send a newsletter like so:
send this newsletter only to members that are in BOTH of the groups that i will check?

If there is no option in default SMF 2 RC 1 version please can you move this to request mod for smf2 ? Thanks!

I figured it out by reading this text:

LainaaExcluded Groups - Here you can select groups that absolutely cannot receive the newsletter under any condition. Even if you have the same group selected under the included membergroups at the top of the page, or a member belongs to one of the included groups, as long as the member belongs to any groups checked here, either as an additional group or a primary group, the member will not get the newsletter.

So if I want to send a newsletter only to group 3 from second year il just check the groups "year 2" and "group 3" in "group selection" and check all other membergroups in the "excluded groups" section (year 1, year 3, group 1, group 2, etc.)
