i was going to attempt an upgrade but thought id check out 2.0 first, so i installed it on my server.... now i have lost 1.1.8 and everything in it.... i did a backup this morning tho, is there any way i can use it on 2.0 for my posts?! or do i have to start again from fresh?
If you did a backup then you just need to restore it, then run upgrade.php to upgrade things to 2.0.
i get this when i try upgrade
!!Error!
Error retrieving information on step: Renaming table columns.
what do i do?!

How many times have you run the upgrader?
Have you made a backup of your db before the upgrade btw?
If so, try to restore it and perform the upgrade once again from the very begin.

Did your backup include your database? Did you include the structure as well as the data with the backup? The database that you created when you installed 2.0 can be deleted, create a new database, user, and password for the new database or you could just drop the tables in the database instead of deleting and then creating. Once you have an empty database then import the 1.1.8 data. FTP the files that begin with "upgrade" to the forum directory and point your browser to the upgrade.php and before long you will be back on your forum with 2.0RC1.
