Hello, i plan to build up my community first in shared host (lunarpages) and then move to dedicated server. My forum has A LOT hacks, including some big ones like PortaMX, zCommunity, Pretty URL's, download directory, Aeva, RSS Feeder, Advanced Reputation System, badges, ad managment, many skins, + a lot administration & visual hacks about 60 of them.
By the time i transfer the page - it should be big forum (more then 5000 users / 20 000 posts).
I wonder how should i transfer it to new server, what should i do to minimize risks? The forum aadress will probably stay same.
My original plan was to transfer entire forum directory & backup database, then import database to the new server and after i have uploaded all the old forum files to new one - everything might work right, but might not also?
Should i use same version of PHP (and other things like database etc) as i had in virtual server or can i install latest php to my server and everything would be great?
What could likely be happening in worst case if i do everything right?

How do I move my SMF board to a different host? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=489)
Thank you, of course i know this link. I was just wondering is there any difference if i have a lot of modifications installed or not.
Maybe some modifications can make trouble for me.. im not sore, i just want to know before i transfer :)
I have never had a problem and that is a very hard one to answer as a lot of it will depend on how the new server is configured.
It's a good thing you asked, the Pretty URLs module will definitely give you problems, I suggest you uninstall that one prior to the switch if you have it installed ;)
