Title: Japanese Language Help Files
Post by: archiebald on March 09, 2005, 04:05:21 AM
I may be in a position to arrange Japanese translation of the help files.  (I need it anyway for my company's new data board that I have set up)

Can anyone confirm the following points;

1. Is there anyone working on this yet (help files only for now)?

2. Do I need to translate the XML or HTML or both?

3. If and when it is finished, where do I send it?

Also, I have seen that there seems to be one or more people that have started Japanese translation of the PHP files - DOes anyone know what progress has been made up to now?

No one is *actively* continuing with a Japanese translation, so no one is working on the Japanese help files.

I'll reply to your email properly within a few days.

Just to update,
I found the files that Logue had made for version 1.01 and they seem to be about 90% complete.  I assume that these are virtually the same as for 1.02.  Haven't checked them thoroughly yet.

My assistant is progressing with the help files into Japanese.  Currently we have about 40% of the XML files done.  When they are complete I will try to tie them up with Logue's Japanese version.

Expect about another 4 weeks I guess.

Taka, maybe you could check the files for us when we are complete.  My Japanese is poor and my assistant's English is by no means perfect so we may have some errors.

If you send me the xml files, I can use them to generate the html files - but please send them to [email protected], if you do.

I'm more than happy to help you :-)
Just post a message to this thread or send me a personal message when it's ready.

When translating into Japanese, a simple explanatory note is liked.
Even though I translated into the trial ... It faces rough going considerably. :-[

Thanks,
Actually there is a set of interface files hat Logue has done, although not 100% complete they are quite good, I have been using them now for a couple of weeks with SMF 1.02.  http://logue.tk/SMF.html

My assistant is still workng on the Japanese help files with me so they will be a while longer.

Just to inform that we finally managed to complete the help files in Japanese and they have now been sent to the language coordinators.

I received them, thanks. But I don't have any japanese files. Is there an actual 1.0.5 package?

Daniel,
I am still running 1.03 with a Japanese language pack that was created by Logue for 1.01  I can't remember where I got it from now, I think it was Logue's own website.  You can find it here  http://forum.logue.tk/?topic=72  It is not perfect but it runs okay for what I am running.

Am I correct in assuming that the help files are compatible with all current versions of SMF?

YOu can use them like the language pack, but there were also some changes. Can someone provide me a japanese language pack for 1.0.5? Who can translate the missng strings? Can you email me the 1.0.1 package? I saw an 1.1 RC1 package, too, but can't download. Would you email me those?

A help page is in the state which has not been started yet...

Translation differs from the language file for RC1 a little.

Happy New Year everyone!

Hey, let's make 2006 as Japanese release year for SMF.  We've spent quite long time already :P

We should focus on 1.1 GM now.  I know Logue has already installed 1.1 RC2 and did some work so that it works with Japanese.

We probably need to update 1.0x Japanese help files, but it shouldn't be time consuming work now.

Great to hear that! I sent archiebald the tools for synchronizing the files with RC2. There are a few german users who wants to have the japanese files, too. :)

btw: Who is the official translator? Still archiebald or Logue? A team? Please help me and send me a message if something changed.

What's the sense of the Subs-Post.php in the package?

It is for garbled characters to occur in some characters.

In addition to Subs.php, Subs-Member.php and Subs-Post.php were added in updating on January 25.
