Update: As the mail server has been stable for a while now, this can be considered fixed.
We are currently having some issues in receiving mail sent to addresses at simplemachines.org. Our team is working on finding the cause and getting it corrected.
Messages are not being rejected and should be held by outside servers until they can get through to us. While this means that we should get all messages eventually, it does mean that there could be a very long delay before we see them.
For urgent issues, along with sending an e-mail, please try to contact one of the project managers by PM, IM, or by posting a topic in the appropriate board.
This message will be updated once the problem has been resolved.
Okay ;)
Okay.Thanks for the information.

It's there for a reason ;) I' got some queries for hosting sometime in the past, and got tired of answering them :D
Well, now this topic should be a hot one.. :P

I know about that, but before the SQL server was changed, the emails use to come perfectly to me..And now it doesn't..

Then you were lucky. Also, we had a period of a few days when everything was fine. Other than that, we have been trying to keep things up when they go down. (I have a monitor running now that sends out alerts when the mail service goes down)
We are working on tracking down the root cause, and a few attempts helped a bit. However, there are still issues, so things haven't been completely resolved.
No problem with that then. It'll be fine enough until we get the emails. I don't keep topics on notification until i make them and are truly important. But i normally do keep a check here itself. Its faster to come here then go to the email service provider..:P
Could it be that this site's host IP is blacklisted? Sometimes that affects emails being sent or recieved, if you're using the email service that is provided by the host.
Nah, they are monitoring our mails..:P
So those who view this know, the mail server is back up and stable now.
Thank you for the update.. :)
Can everyone get @simplemachines.org e-mails?
Nope. Only Team Members and Friends I believe.
Is there a way to get an email address if you're a new member? I'm feeling left out! :(

Only about 0.05% of SMF members get one (assuming 100 out of the 182,817 members are team members/SMF friends) - don't feel left out, you're in a 99.95% majority ;)
Only those people that are on the team or are previous team members can request an e-mail account on our domain.
Since this is going quite off-topic from the original alert to those trying to e-mail us, I am locking this topic.
