well i had to get an understanding of template system. so 3 days back when i closed my hotmail account permanently. i thought it will be good just to make that into forum since the thing served me for more than 5 years. some thing has to be given back. :-\

Ah a tribute to Hotmail... I honestly think you did a nice job. It would be even nicer if you kept the general layout and graphics but removed all copyrighted graphics and released it as a separate more 'usable' theme. :)

A more appropriate point is #8, which says you can't use any of the information available from the MSN Web Sites for any purpose other than your personal use. I believe this theme is for personal use. Still a moot point, since this TOU doesn't apply to this situation.
However, there may be something else somewhere on the Microsoft sites that deals with this issue.

Perhaps you didn't understand my post. The link you provided doesn't deal with any copyright issues that are brought up in this thread. It only pertains to the use of the MSN site for communications (ie: email). I am well aware that MSN and Hotmail belong to Microsoft.
It doesn't matter whether or not it's in their disclaimer. It's copyrighted material anyway. You need permission before using it.

The point I am making deals exclusively with the fact that the quote posted by Midgard doesn't apply in this situation. The images are copyrighted, but using #6 isn't correct.

The errors do not produce error to me in others themes see in
admin = > see log of errors in each update, appears a nonat sight error but of the users.

I have a question. I don't get the impression that this theme was created to "skin" some other webmail utility so I don't why it cannot be spoofed. Because to me, that is basically all this is. And in that reguard, what makes this illegal? Not to mention it's not for sale.

nobody replied to my screaming lol....
However after reading a tutorial from [unknown] somewhere (i can't remember where now sorry), it said about if the file for the theme doesnt exist, then the default theme just gets used instead.
I can't remember exactly what i did, i'll have a look at it again and try and get back to you, but i deleted a file that it used to create the buttons, and it reverted back to use the forum default one... which added the reply button back on the bottom again, but still looks perfectly fine!

I own and operate a SMF forum site.
I recently found the Hotmail theme on this site. It is fantastic. However, I am worried that it may be copyrighted with the real Hotmail. There are a few things that i would like to do before installing it on my site.
The little "men" on the left hand side I would like to erase and have only blue back ground.
The SMF Hotmail i would like to erase and have my logo and finally the sign out button is too much like the real hotmail and would like to change it.
I would appreciate any help

The font of this theme is a little small. How can I increase the font?
A very good job! Although, I found a couple of things that would help the users a bit.
1. I added the reply buttons on the top, down at the bottom as well. That way users have quick access to the full Post page and don't have to use the QuickReply.
2. I added <a href=></a> around my site name where it says "Today on...." That allows users a quick access back to my home page.
3. I agree with the copyright issues. The little blue guys need to vanish or change or something.
4. I would change the New Posts Indicator on the Board Index to something a bit bigger. It could just be me, but the new topics vs the no topics look pretty darn close.
On the positive side, the theme is extreamly intuative! Nice job. I really like the envelops for new posts/no posts, and the color scheme is very pleasing to the eye. ;) Thank you!
