I hope this is the right place to post this.
I've just made a new board and want to upload the information from a saved old board to my new board can this be done??
If it can how???

Yes. Upload the old sql file through phpMyAdmin. You can use repair_settings.php to fix any settings (What is repair_settings.php? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18096.0)) and upgrade.php (from the "smf_1-0-2_upgrade" package on the download page) to make sure your database is up to date.
