If I have a forum A with sub forums B and C and there are groups BB and CC. I want to permit BB to post to the calendar for forum B and CC to post to the forum for C, but to no other forums. Is there a way to do that. Right now it appears the permission to post to the calendar gives permission to post to any forum. I am looking for a solution or workaround for this.

Use local permissions. Give group BB rights to post in forum B and disallow them rights in forum C. In forum C do the flip
Thanks, I tried your suggestion but it does not work. The problem is that once permission to post in the calendar is given, you get permission to post an event into any of the forums. The post to calendar is a global permission and does not show up on the 'local' permission list. If it did, I think this would work.
I'm not sure exactly why the calendar permissions are global only, because to some extent they act like 'local' or forum based events. If you post a calendar event to a particular forum, they do not show up in the calendars of people that do not have access to the forum in which the calendar event was posted. This is just what I want, but in the post page, the poster is given a pull down list of all forums and is allowed to post into any of them. I want to limit it to just those forums that the poster belongs to. Again, post to the calendar was a local permission, it would probably work.

Based up the previous discussions, maybe this is the question I should be asking. Is there a way to add calendar permissions to the local permissions of a group for a forum? If post to a calendar were a local permission for a group in a forum, would it then limit their posts to the forum for which the permission is granted?
Can this be hacked in the database (assumes permissions are tagged as to whether or not they are local, global or both?) Maybe a simple mod could be made to the post page to check for which forums the user had permission to access?
