Otsikko: Problems: Package Manager failure, board failure
Kirjoitti: C.Ingram - maaliskuu 15, 2005, 08:31:35 IP
I have two problems with SMF 1.0.2. I haven't found any threads discussing quite the same thing, but if you know of any, please link me.

Problem 1: For no reason I can discover, SMF just plain dies from time to time. When it happens, the board is out of comission for at least 20 seconds. No errors are generated in the logs or otherwise. The only thing that happens is a clean disconnect from the server.

Problem 2: The package manager fails to install anything. There are plenty of Success messages listed, and below that a request for FTP information. I provide the information, and get the same result. Safe mode is OFF.

Don't know what to tell you about Problem 1... Might be a server issue.

Problem 2 - this means that you most likely didn't enter something correctly. Make sure the path and servername are correct.

While it could be a server problem I have no problems with anything else, and no indication that any problem even exists, other than the obvious.

All of the FTP information is correct. I have even set the FTP account to chroot into the SMF install directory so I can't possibly enter an inaccurate path. If there was some sort of error happening when SMF tried to establish or use an FTP connection, shouldn't it generate some sort of error?

Can you give a link to the first forum, please?

You have to click "proceed" for the package manager to actually do anything.
