Title: SMF 1.1.8 with Jfusion 1.1.3 Joomla Bridge
Post by: carterx on May 27, 2009, 04:54:04 PM
Just noticed today that JFusion has been updated to 1.1.3 and I was wondering if anyone has yet to test this version.

I spent way too much time testing the 1.1.2 version with no real success without having to go through a great amount of time and trouble to get it to work. Right now I'm running a Kunena Forum with my Joomla install but still really want SMF so looking to see what the feedback has been so far on JFusion version 1.1.3 RC

Just installed it today, seems to work good. The only problems im having is having the links in the JFusion login form for unread messages etc link to a wrapped/frameless of SMF. But that might just be me not using the settings correctly.

But it synced users, wraps (with normal links) well enough.

If you still require assistance with this, please ask at JFusion as we do not provide support for third-party bridges :)

I had a fair number of posts on the JFusion forum trying to get SMF/Joomla with JFusion to work properly. So far the latest release 1.1.3 works much better.

IMHO use SJSB code to bridge is better. Use JFusion only to sync.

that's one opinion, but last i checked it still violates license by using hook.

To be fair to both integrations,

I'd say that SJSB is the tighter integration of the two softwares.  The licensing is precarious at best.  That said, it (and other software violating the GPL as interpreted) has been allowed to continue without any repercussions for so long that the precedent of complacency towards the license violation has pretty much been set.

JFusion is a good general integration.  It works with software other than SMF, which gives an option to those who want it.  It is compliant with the GPL as interpreted, so no worries about discontinuation of the software due to legal threats.
