Link to Mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1862)

TinyPic Plug-in is an offsite uploader and search for TinyPic.com. This
mod allows users to upload to, search and use Tinypic.com.  Users can
upload images or videos by default.  The Tinypic Plugin is also available
in other languages.

Great advertising mod, thanks for sharing. :)

Please add "multiple pics" feature if possible, so we can upload a few pics at one time.

It doesnt work perfect lol. Theres a bug in the lanuage file im sure.

Im using a custom theme and on the top of my forums something like this showed up:

$txt['415'] blablabla. I removed it instantly since theres a lot of people online atm. However I do like the aspect, im going to look into it, see whats wrong and Ill post report here if I can fix it.

Post by: alexandervba on June 01, 2009, 12:58:47 PM
Found it:

I dont know why, but when I tried to install the mod via packetmanager, it did something wrong in modifications.english.php:

It added this:

$txt['tinypic_upload'] = 'Upload Image With Tinypic';
$txt['tinypic_add_to_post'] = 'Add To Post';

After the end of the php tag:

?>

While it should obviously edit it above... A manual install is working fine, thx for this. Hope you will fix this error for other users too.

I got like 4 pages of errors due to this mod afterall lol. After a manual install all was fine. Except for the fact u were using <br /> in the middle of a table where u should have created a new row =/ But yea, working good now. Just autoinstall via package management didnt work good at all.

I can't tell if the threadstarter is still supporting the mod here.... but here goes:

Posters are reporting what you see in these screenshots.  Sometimes the Images And Videos tabs appear after a successful upload (screenshot 1) and sometimes they don't (screenshot 2).  And more times than not, whether they do or not, the TinyPic.com link is super-imposed over either the Image Tab or the Add To Post button.  So far, the browser involved has been Firefox, which may be the culprit.  No one is using the Zoom In feature or enlarging the forum's pages in any way.  Can the link be repositioned further down, perhaps?

I cannot seem to install this mod on a new install of SMF 1.1.10
with TinyPortal installed.

It says:
Quote
Install Actions
Installations actions for "Tinypic Plugin":
The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

Anyone have any pointers?

Downloaded and retried several times.

I'd like to try this mod, but it looks like I have to install it manually since I am running 1.1.11.  How do I install a mod manually?  I edited the files as suggested (keeping a back-up of the originals just in case), but now what do I do? I searched the forum for how to do a manual mod install and did not find any posts.  Thanks.

This Tinypic mod does not work if you have installed the Pretty Url mod (the "Add to post" button doesn't work). With a simple tweak, you can fix it however.

After you have installed to mod, open GenericControls.template.php in your theme folder. Look for this line:

tinypic_callback_url = document.location.href.substr(0,document.location.href.lastIndexOf("/"))+"/callback2.html";

And change it to this:

tinypic_callback_url = "{your site URL}/callback2.html";

Replace {your site URL} with the URL of your site (like http://www.simplemachines.org). Callback2.html should be in the root of your forum folder (so your URL may look like http://www.simplemachines.org/forum).

I have tested this with SMF 2 RC3. If you are using a 1.x version of SMF and have Pretty URL installed, the fix should be similar, but I have not tested this.

QuoteTinypic International is changing. Beginning September 23rd, you will no longer be able to upload content to Tinypic and your links will be turned off. Please begin using Photobucket to upload, share and link your images and videos.

Look in ./Themes/default/GenericControls.template.php there's a line like this :

tinypic_language = "en";

You can change that "en" to a "de", that should work.

Hello,

Instead of this TinyPic mod is it maybe possible to make a mod for Photobucket?

Why I ask this is because of the following:
Tinypic is no longer accepting uploads from international locations, and links are turned off. If you have content on Tinypic, you can still view the URLs and the content, but only on Tinypic. To upload, share, or link content, please go to Photobucket.com to register an account. You will need to upload your content again to your Photobucket account, but you will be able to share and link your images and videos. We're sorry for the inconvenience and hope that you enjoy Photobucket, our premier image and video site. Click here for more details (http://tinypic.com/join.php)

We heard from many of our users in regards to these changes and we appreciate your feedback. Tinypic has restored linking to your images and enabled uploading. Please rest assured no content was removed from the site. We tried to notify users on Tinypic and requested they move their content to Photobucket. Unfortunately this messaging was insufficient and has taken many of our users by surprise and we apologize. Our intent was to begin combining some of the best features of Tinypic and Photobucket, thereby offering users a better experience. Any changes in the future will be better communicated. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Tinypic is still online but on their website we can see:
Join Photobucket Today!
Please join us on Photobucket where you can create a free account and make use of the full array of features and products available to registered users.

#RemovalRequest
Straight from Wikipedia
QuoteOn September 9, 2019, Tinypic was officially shut down with a period to allow existing users prior to the shutdown date to download all their photos up until September 19, 2019.
Tinypic service is no more, and this mod no longer works on any smf version because... Yeah, obviously without their main site to back it up it won't upload anywhere, so keeping it on the mod site serves no purpose.
