I am also having a similar problem.

When users buy a Paid Subscription using a paypal subscription it doesn't callback and adjust the users member group. However, if they don't do a paypal subscription and just a regular one time payment it works fine.

Any ideas?

Are there any errors in your error log?

Not that I see related to this transaction. I have disabled auto-renewal paypal subscriptions for the time being.
