and mambo at www.mylink.com
how to remove mambo, and make the smf at www.mylink.com.......

delete the mambo files.
move the forum files
change the settings.php file to your new path and then change the settings in your forum (themes, attachments, etc)

did you move your WHOLE forum directory up to the root? Including ALL subdirectories
