Another great mod.  I assume this changes the color of the member's name right?  I saw another mod here that said something similar and read that it wasn't it.  I think this is it though.  Will try it out.

What exactily not work?
Have you checked at least one thing the forum settings?
Only the Calendar things need the changes in the templates, too. (Because the handling is diffrent).

Okay i look if there changes in beta 2... but i think there should not to much in this part i used... (i hope it...)

in the package-info.xml stand something like:

replace it with

Now the error should be not shown =).

I think it should work in beta 2 (but i can not test it currently) ;)

I installed the mod after upgrading SMF to 1.0.4.

The installation was successful but now i can't get in any board. I can see the index but if i click on a board name i get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: emtpy() in /home/ste_name/public_html/forum/Sources/MessageIndex.php on line 137

If i try to click on a topic, the last one to be exact, everything is fine.

Line 137 of my MessageIndex.php is this one:

Look in you Admin Menü -> Forum Settings -> Open the Member Color Link Option and you can select what schould have a color ;).

I have the Googlebot mod installed and where it's supposed to search for:

yes. That key is setup by using one of Midgards scripts. I was hoping you could include that Key in your package so I dont have to use Midgards script anymore. ;D

neither 1.80 or 1.81 work with beta 3 public...

it doesn't have the install option and i can't open tar.gz to change it

A manual install works, but I cannot remember if it will work directly, there are a couple of changes.....I think.  But I did get it working on one of my forums

Are there so much changes between beta 1/2 and beta 3 Public... *uff*

A manual install worked for me with 1.81a, though I had to find some things that had changed. but everything looks fine as far as I can tell.

I get this error:

The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

He managed to get it working when I was using Beta 2 and he didnt have one.

But din1031, there are a couple of changes in Beta 3 I think.

Even with those errors, I was able to get it working I manually added to the templates that the errors appeared in.  Im running 1.1beta. The only part I couldnt get it working with is the index.  You can see it in action at www.shoyoroll.com/forum 

I do want it to work to its entirety though.  If this can be upgraded that would be fantastic! ;D

I had the following errors.

I installed it anyway. Went into the sources and changed the rest.  It works.  I tried to uninstalled, it worked.  You just need to manually edit the sections that failed.

    I am using smf 1.0.5 and Member Color Mod 181a.  I have the Key Stats box turned on.  In that box the latest member is not colored.  Their username is colored in the Forum Stats.

Could you PM me the code so that I could install the mod manually on 1.1 RC 1 and so that I can install it manually onto Display.template.php only.

On 1.1 RC 1 it says that the mod has no install / uninstall options, so very hard to do all the code by hand.

in 1.1 rc1 it gave too many errors (nearly all the executions)
i edited the mod and installation went well.. but i didnt see member colors change anywhere :P

btw, this mod is really organized very well. the author had thought everywhere that a member name would be shown. and we hope he update it for 1.1 rc 1 :) (i couldnt do myself)

You need to set it up in the admin for it to appear!

So some people want colors in the SSI.php so i add some files for this (one for 1.05 and before and one for 1.1rc1).

This files are only writen for the SSI.php and also work without the normal install of the MemberColorLink mod :).

The mod dont have a apply mod bit it doesnt show up as if its a new or old mod either any idear why?

Look into the Forum Settings. There is extra part for this :).

Need some help with this mod on a smf 1.05 board.Im only getting administrator and global moderator colours working.None of the members colours have changed;

You are using the right version for 1.0.5. Right?   Also did u set a color for the other members in the membergroups part in the admin?

Everything is up to date except this file it seems.

Also I dint have any member groups assigned,so I see the problem now.

Oh i forgot that some server don't allow the tgz extension ... so i replaced the file with a tar.gz extension.
Rename it if to filname.tar.gz and it should work...

Okay if you have no luck installing it on your version, check that you have the 'package-info.xml' file inside the compressed file, thats what i did to make it work. I hope that the mods maker with change this.

Is this located any where in a .zip file? These blasted .tar.gz  files no matter what they are always get corrupted on me. It may be better compression but not worth a squat when they don't work for ya.  >:( :(

dude they are not corupt. Simply download the archive for your version, if it says it doesnt work, download a different version, take the pack-info.xml file from it then put it in the version you need for your version of SMF.

I hope the maker of the mod will hurry and add the package info because this is bound to annoy people.

Well thanks for the try. Still dose not work. I'm done trying with this one. I'll just wait for the 1.1 final to do any more Mod adding. maybe the package manager will be better.

At least with SMF when I remove a messed up Mod it dose not corrupt my forum like phpBB always did with me. So that is a plus!

Yep turning it all off fixed the problem...
its only a slight prob shouldnt be hard to fix

Hum i tryed it to remade this error but.... it nerver happend there... *thinking* i look through the code to find some changes if there some ;D.

Maybe it could of been a possible glitch in the install where wither it installed that bit twice maybe...
I untick the colour code for that and it only shows onces now.. this has fixed my problem..
Although i remember it being a clean and easy install no problems..

Version 1.87 (1.1RC2 only).

Remove the Error of the colering in Who is online. (Only a small bug XD).

Also removed the errors of the package manager with the full path ;). (Thx to gruge for the help).

It changes the name of the admin but not the mods....Why not?

It change only the colors of the mods if they are mods in this part of the catagorie (because they are only there mods and not anywhere else)! If you want have this everywhere you must creat a usergroup Moderators where you put all mods in it :).

I updated to 187 and it installed great on RC2 with only the german language as a warning.
Thanks for the pretty mod, I like colors.
I have members sorted into 4 groups so its nice to see easily which are there.

i have a tips and tricks modification running on my board that shows me the highest and lowest karma stats in teh stats page...

problem is combined with your mod my top 10 and bottom 10 karma members aren't in colour cause it's not part of your mod, i've tried to change this myself but i can't manage to work it out...

is there any chance moderators color to be shown on "who is online" index?

I think then, you need to manually create a new group for the moderator... Only then can u change their color

This won't work for me, moderators have permitions for some boards, not for hole forum. If i create a group and i put all moderators is this group their color will appear all over the forum and also in boards where they don't have permitions to moderate.

My shoutbox can display member link in different colors now.

At first I got error with 1st code that you tell me.
The error is about }, so I try to delete the last } in your 1st code, and it works then.

I edited all 2 parts in my Shout.php, and make my shoutbox colorful now.

It looks fine in IE.  The problem being that the link underline is not the same colour as the link.  This only happens with the new mod linked members.

Is there any quick solution to this?

Its not in SMF. But its in vB and MyBB. I just like the idea of being able to change each member groups HTML. So mods could be green bold, admins red, bold, italic etc... using a HTML prefix/suffix.

Well, the thing about it is, I can only recreate it with span style - I have yet to be able to recreate this problem with the way that you have it set up.

I did a dirty fix by taking out the text-decoration on my links.

For example, for the member birthday notifications at the bottom of BoardIndex...

However, I've also got the mod that shows the highest and lowest karma totals on the Stats Page.  I believe the following code is the section that does it...can someone please tell me how to change this so it will also display the Member Links in color??

I have recently upgraded to RC3, it doesnt work anymore. I am using the blublur theme. Eventhough I switched to Default theme, it is not there.

Any pointers?

hmmmm i'm not realy tested the working of the mod in rc3... but if you've problems with it i will test it to see if it realy not work.

Yes, I did it, but the problem now is not fixed.

One more question, Member Color Link is not displayed in View Forum ( in any pages have the address as http://xxxx.net/forum/index.php?board=1.0). So did I do something wrong?

Any chance something similar will be developed for version 1.1 ?

I would like my mod's and admin's names to appear a consistent color on all boards.

woot yay now to upload to my site yay!!!

I've recently upgraded my board to 1.1, and now i've uploaded this mod, the instalation was ok, all files success, but still no colors on the members links...

ya, im hoping a 1.1.1 installation will fix my issue. For some reason Im getting this error::

and my error log is full of 8: Undefined index: 13741 and similar, all reporting to lines in messageindex.php and this mod is in the lines affected

Say, strange occurance here.

Would there be any conflicts having this and the custom profile mod installed together...?

Only reason I ask is because my avatars and attachments disappeared right after I installed those two...and they are the only two installed on the SMF 1.1.1 .

SMF seems to be completely ignoring the fact that these files still exist and the folders still exist.

I don't know any problems with disapearing things... :x

Did you tried to uninstall both mods and look if than work all normal again?

Noticed something different about this mod.
On the membergroup page it no longer displays the colours so you can't compare them.

To Fix this small thing you can change something ;).

Serach in $sourcedir/ManageMembergroups.php
Serach for

$context['groups'][$temp][$id]['link'] = '<a href="' . $data['href'] . '">' . $data['name'] . '</a>';


and replace it with


$context['groups'][$temp][$id]['link'] = '<a href="' . $data['href'] . '">'. (!empty($data['color']) ? '<span style="color: ' . $data['color'] . '">' : '') . $data['name'] . (!empty($data['color']) ? '</span>' : '') . '</a>';


But save the file, it could be possibel that they would change it and correct it sometimes later ;).

ive just reinstalled this mod after upgrading from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1... i'm not sure if this was a feature before or not, but is it possible to have the membergroup colors show in board view? So member names in the "started by" column would have their member group colours show.

Work fine if you mean this shown in the attachment to this post.

Okay, I have two administrators.  One of them (me) shows up red everywhere.  The other one, however, appears red on the main page but not on the individual board views or individual threads.  Any ideas what could be causing that? 

Both are set identically in membergroups.  Both listed as Administrators with complete Admin privileges.  I have double checked and it is the Only membergroup we're both members of and we are both configured identically.

No No Admin show correct, it's because you made the admin a mod of the forum, so it replace the color with the moderator color. That's a smf thing, not a problem of my mod xD, you will also see that the admin have now a moderator stars ;). It's because the programmer think that admin never are moderators ;).

hmm, what file can I look at to see why all my groups have switched to a default color but one group is working correctly.

Okay, I'm probably quite silly as I cannot find where to enable this option in my admin panel after installing it. I'm using SMF 1.1.1 and even though my community is in Dutch, when I change it to English I still cannot find it in my admin panel where to enable it and also where I can specify what I would like to enable as I could do with SMF 1.0.5 so if anyone can give me some help please that would be very much appreciated  :D

and i now install new site and new forum at http://www.g2top.org/forum/ with theme SoftMC Blue

Where is problem... hm..

On both forum i have install mod "Member Color Link" but on new one in one options there is no color nick (in threads above avatar)  on theme SoftMC Blue but on the same forum with default theme there it is... i activate all options in admin panel but nothing happen...

Hmmm i think it's becuase of the Display.template.php of you theme :x. Normal i made no changes in theme, i think the script doesn't use the same way of building the memberlink.

Normal it should work now, because now the name so it should be correct shown now.

Now search in your $themedir/Display.template.php for $message['member']['name'] and replace it with !empty($message['member']['colorName']) ? $message['member']['colorName'] : $message['member']['name'] and it should be a colored version of the name.

1. I'm not using english as default language. And at the registration page where it asks you what membergroup you want to be in, the text on the left doesn't show. Only the drop-down menu with groups list. So, is there a way to show this text on the left? Just show me in what file and lines I should change things and i'll do it.

2. And the most important thing is that I want already registered members to be allowed to change their membergroups in profile page at any time :) The current mod does'nt allow that, and if they miss to choose it at the registration page, the option is not available anymore.
Of course i'll set which groups are permited to change their group in profile window at the registration/settings page, so there shouldn't be any security issues:)

Hmm... I've installed it, and uninstalled and reinstalled.  Can't access the config page from the admin panel.  Also tried a manual install... same thing.  The mod itself is installed, just can't configure it.  Trying to do it via database, but I don't even see an option for it in smf_settings.   

Did you made the language changes, for the mod? (If you use other languages.)

I took a look at the sources, and it's there...  But was there a SQL query to make the options in the database to show the colorlinks on certain parts of the forums? (I ran this on RC2 so I remember the options)

If you installed it by hand, please make sure that you really replace all ;).

well, I'll remove everything by hand (since this one is on manual install) and reinstall again via the package manager.  Was having the same issue, but the third time may be the charm.  I'll keep you posted.

This modification is a great idea, but I can't get it to work on my forum.
I am running the default theme, version 1.1.2.

I installed the modification, but I see no change in the link colors.  Am I supposed to do something in the Administration control panel to activate it?

I'm running 1.1.2. Any ideas on what's happening?

Somehow you installed it twice, or you package manager made a mistake.

Remove in the ModSettings.php the twice insert function modifyMemberColorLinksSettings();

(The Best thing is to use the backuped file overwrite it and install it again :x).

This is a great mod.

A suggestion - if there was some way, instead of just adding the color, to do custom CSS in there.  So that certain names could be bolded, underlined, struck-through...or have colored backgrounds, etc.

yes, some other things changed. F.ex, the colors appeared while they posted on boards, but only at the on line list the colors don''t apppear

only this one mate, it happens with a couple of others, but like yours also doesn't just have a "1.1.2" version its either an old version updated or its a multi install or something, it just says this and im too scared to continue the install:

It works on my local site but it won't work on the real one.  Maybe it conflict with other mods?  I am still trying to figure out the difference between the local one and real one. Thank you though.

I got what I wanted from your codes.  ;)  I lost the link to member profile so I fiddled with your codes and it seems to be working the way I wanted.  I moved the </span> tag at the end of member info.  Please check it and confirm that it will not do anything other than what it is intended to do.

The

Make this changes of the english files also in the danish files (http://jmusic.ddo.jp/DIN1031/modparser/index.php?action=installMod&smfVersion=1.1.3&name=MemberColorLink200&language) or change the language to english make the settings and change it back.

Or if you not like to do both and have a nice server -> http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=615 <- This mod automatic load the english language file before the selected one, but i think it's only usefull for boards with a lot of languages ;).

I have SMF 1.1.3 and i just installed this mod...I got this error:

I tried to solve it but it should work correct, i think this have something to do with the Java Script :x. But i'm not sure i will test it later local on my pc and try to fix it XD.

I didn't read the readme (if there was one) so I didn't know I had to enable it. So now it works thanks to you telling me. It also works on the Scribbles theme now that I did enable it. Thanks for not making me do extra edits. :P

Ok found the cause of the problem. I thought my language was english but it was english utf-8. I thought that was the default english setting, didn't know there was a english without the utf-8. It is working fine now. Thanks!

What's this utf-8 anyway? Does it matter if I have now selected english instead of english utf-8?

utf8 allows for use of variable length character encoding...useful in some areas but for normal use just stick to the English setting and you'll be fine...for more information see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8)

I just installed SMF. First 1.4 then i installed the member color link, it didnt work (its saying its installed but its not showing). Then ive deleted all and then installed SMF 1.3 and tried, didnt work either?? can you help please.

i am trying to make members names in gallery and tp blocks have their color but i don't know what i should replace their name with ! is there a way ?

Try this, it's a add on for the SSI.php to enable some colors. (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=32101.0;attach=40393).

For the second thing,
Normal if it loaded with load member data than the color should be there, if not than there is a way to try to replace $somevar['name'] to $somevar['colored_name'] but it's possible that it not work ;). (Which gallery did you have installed?)

ok i installed your SSI mod but nothing changed ! all the names display the same as before (i have Member Color Link 2.0.1 installed) , so no members'color in the gallery or the blocks !

Hmmm difficullt because it load in a seperate way the user data, so i don't know how to had the colors there, normal you need to load the colors before than you can use it. I need more code to tell you what you need to do or what you can do to add colors there :x.

ok here's the whole gallery.template.php . in there you will see some html entities such as
Έκθεση" alt="Καλώς ήρθατε στην Έκθεση
they are just greek letters (that's how they show inside the code) so don't be bothered with them .

There is no Member Color Link, and my language is English :(.
I think its not "creating" those things for the mod, and the same for rest of the mod i tried to install.
I dont know what's wrong, damn.
Because when im going to press Apply mod its says error on any files.. but then i press install anyways, and then nothing just comes or something.. help. I added your on MSN, pleace accept.
