How do you mean? What are you talking about that is not as efficient?
The administrator can define as many smiley sets as he or she wishes, but users cannot. That request has already been posted and I've already replied as to why I consider it undesirable.

I meant there should be a page in admin settings where the admin can directly change the smilies instead of adding the javascript code in his template.
If this is already done then ignore this.
