I have lost the password to my admin profile on an SMF forum. The email on my account is also not correct, so I cannot do the "Forgot your Password" recovery. I also do not have access to the database of the forum. The only thing I currently have access to is my FTP. My question is, is there a way for me to change the admin password just from using FTP? Can I upload a special .php file to change the settings?
Thanks.

haha, weird, that link doesn't show for me in your post until I quote it. Just in case this is a known bug.
Please take a look at: I accidentally deleted my admin account, what do I do? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=466).
You can use the first comment's solution, eventually changing a bit the query to be:
"UPDATE {$db_prefix}members
SET emailAddress = 'correct_email' WHERE memberName = 'yourusername'"
This should allow you to use the "forgot password" feature.

this (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=466) did not work. I have SMF 1.1.10 and after I uploaded the .php file, it just gave me a blank screen.
The original query in the first comment, if that is what you have tried, does what the topic says: fixes the problem when the account was deleted, or is not an admin account anymore. Please try to use the updated query posted above, with the same PHP file and instructions.
Thanks Norv. That fixed it. ;D
glad you got it sorted
Marked the topic as solved. :)
