Great theme. But is it possible to increase the size of the logo?
It's been a while since I've been using CSS, so an example would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi!

First thanks for this great theme!!!

But i have an question/problem with this theme, just have a look at the attached screenshot. "My Messages" in English is called "Meine Mitteilungen" in German, and i think this Translation is too long for the button. How can i fix this button?

Thanks in advance for an reply.

You can make the font-size: a smaller size & or use a smaller font-family: arial narrow;} or put a {letter-spacing: -1px;}

I'm really sorry to drag this thread up, but is there any chance that this awesome theme will be updated for RC2? I've installed it and there seems to be a problem with the images for some odd reason. On the index and posts, none of the theme images are showing up and an extra "/" is added before the image. For example - "hxxp://www.mysite.net/boards/themes/actualism20/images//new.png" - so it's showing the text and only the text.

I've also tried "Loner" and it works perfectly, so I'm assuming it's a compatibility problem. Thanks ahead of time if you can get around to it and thanks anyways for the great theme.

Title: Re: Actualism
Post by: vas on January 06, 2010, 11:19:47 AM
I feel the original actualism (version 1.1.10) was very good. The latest version containing 2 box per block as in the curve theme is not looking nice and looks ordinary because there were so many themes now replicating the curve theme.

Hope you will release a original version too., the header and the body in one box. Thanks.

Crip,

This is a awesome looking theme!

A few things.

When you shrink the theme in your browser. The wood pic goes out side of the frame.

Also how do you change the forum size? It's way to big even at 1280 x 800
Title: Re: Actualism
Post by: Crip on January 15, 2010, 10:38:45 AM
What version dkharp ?

edit 2.0 is found here:

/* This division wraps the entire forum when a forum width is set. */
div#wrapper
{
width: 1240px;
border: 10px solid #333333;
margin: 0 auto;
}

1.1 version in style.css just find : #wrapper { }

Hey Crip,  I really like this theme.  I think I can make it fit for my site far as style.  Don't know if you remember but I was the one asking on TP about your skillz on  a theme that would go well with a gunsite for gunowners for the state of MO.

Anyways, When I changed the size it just changed the header and not the size of the whole forum.

I'm running

Hi Crip!
Really nice theme! thanks for share it
I have used it as a base for our forum (credits remain there, of course!)

But, I have no idea why, but the menu is not using the 100% width, Im going crazy...
here a screenshot:
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg521.imageshack.us%2Fimg521%2F2966%2Factualismmenugoesdown.png&hash=04162d883c831b2db47c9a8ca886921a0067050b)

It is going down at the "MIS" item (Mis mensajes = private messages... after that is the calendar, users, logout...)

this is the html code, it looks normal:
<div id="toolbar">

<div id="menu">
<ul id="navi"><li><a  class="current" href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php"><span>Inicio</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=help"><span>Ayuda</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=rules"><span>Mandamientos</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=search"><span>Buscar</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=admin"><span>Administración</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=moderate"><span>Moderar</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=profile"><span>Editar Perfil</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=pm"><span>Mis Mensajes</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=calendar"><span>Calendario</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=mlist"><span>Usuarios</span></a></li><li><a  href="http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/index.php?action=logout;d671cc10c=304414fea1ffda9ee55b553467094015"><span>Salir</span></a></li>

  </ul>
</div>
</div>

I have been hours looking in the css, navi, ul, li, menu, toolbar... no idea what is doing that "break" in the menu...
If I set navi overflow to auto I can see how the other words goes down, in a new line...

any idea?

best regards, and sorry for my bad english :)

oh, btw
here is the website: cbabikes.com.ar (http://cbabikes.com.ar/foros/)

to see the break menu you need an user (if not the menu is shorter)
Title: Re: Actualism
Post by: luuuciano on March 10, 2010, 12:57:50 PM
Issue solves, I guess....

commented the uppercase lines in the CSS... and the "long" menu goes visible...
no idea why the menu was handled in that way (breaking at 600px and no more... as the width is 950px)

Hi Crip,

thanks for this update.

There seems to be some problem with the latest Actualism version and the user stats.

My output is the same as on your demo board:

http://demo.jpr62.com/index.php?action=profile;area=statistics;u=1;theme=34

The same problem appears at several other themes of you. Any hints how we can fix this?

Thanks in advance for a reply.

Greetings Sir.  This theme is lovely.  There's just one small problem I noticed.  The member's list box is a lil bigger then the page.  Could you please tell me where I might fix this?  I'm using SMF 1.1.11 if that helps. :)

Thanks again for the beautiful theme.

OK ..
not sure if it's a 'fix' ?.. but in style.css remove the below code:

.left,.alignleft {
   float: left;
}
.right,.alignright {
   float: right;
}

..I do suggest upgrading to: RC3  :)
Title: Re: Actualism

No it didn't work.  Not for the members page or the missing space bars.  And for the member's page...it don't work in IE either.

What's happening on the members list page is also happening in the admin control panel (& again with the members list).  Screen shot attached.

Also notice on the members list (be it front end or back end) there's a spacer missing between JustEd & Kathleen.  Again this spacer stuff don't happen in IE...only in Firefox???  It's not a biggie...many people wouldn't even notice.  I'm just wondering why. :)

1.) Actualism:

When the news is disabled in the header (not the newsfader) it misaligns the entire forum.

Any idea on why? Or how to fix? I'm using  the SMF 2.0RC3 version.

I said I had two questions.

2.) Will there be a Mac Like for SMF 2.0RC3? (I hope!!!)

Thanks for all your GREAT work, Crip!

Hi!

I have some odd issues with HOURS...
for example: in the main index or lists of new unread messages... a post shows 19:39... when I see the post... it shows 22:39...
+3 hours

allways that... +3 difference

can be that a theme issue?

where to see/investigate?

edit: I saw the demo forum... and it is working ok... the same hour in posts and index... :(

I still have this problem with the captcha image not working at my forum:

http://www.xxx.de/forum/index.php?action=register

But i have downloaded the Actualism RC3 today and there is no difference between the index.ccs from the archive to my archive. Any other hints how to fix this?

Just for the records, i've found the reason of this problem. There was a space before the <?php in the index.template.php of my Actualism installation, that was the reason for the problem with the not showing captcha image...  :o

Hello Crip,

I'm currently working on a new forum using your theme but I'm currently having some trouble adding links/tabs to the main menu.

After creating some custom pages and adding links to them on the main menu, I realised the hover effect for the links I created looks 'broken'. Works fine on the default tabs. I've tried everything I could think of to solve this problem and only came here as a last resort.

I really need help correcting this. You can take a look at the site here - e b i z 4 a f r i c a . c o m

Of course, you'd need to take out the spaces in between  :)

Looking forward to your response!

you will have to add it by hand, looking at the template code... go and add things like AAAAAAAAAAA... when you find the right spot... put the adsense code there, customize it to your needs, etc

(you can use ads mods... but you will need to add code by hand anyway, since actualism is not equal to the curve theme)

The two sites that I put it on aren't related, in any way, either.

One was a support thing, here.

So, I installed it on my site, to check it out.

Same thing.

I'll have to have a delve and see what I can come up with.

Ta for looking at it, though, dooood!

1.1.13 LOOK in the {index.template.php} , add a 'Forum' tab like the 'Home' tab ..

1.st add forum', 'in, 'currentArray')))

   if (in_array($context['current_action'], array('search', 'admin', 'calendar', 'profile', 'mlist', 'register', 'login', 'help', 'pm', 'forum')))

Your Buttons like Home .. same way------------>

// Show the [home] button.
    echo '<li', $current_action == 'home' ? ' class="current"' : '', '><a href="', $scripturl, '"><span>' , $txt[103] , '</span></a></li>';

// Show the [forum] button.
    echo '<li', $current_action == 'forum' ? ' class="current"' : '', '><a href="', $scripturl, '?action=forum"><span>Forum</span></a></li>';

Great Theme Crip.  Just an FYI:  It's better to use class="copyright" on your copyright <li> tag for the theme in the footer, so that it will have it's own line and will not place the content below it on the same line (e.g. the XHTML RSS and WAP2 links are on the same line as your copyright and just looks a bit messy).

Also, the Admin, profile, and PM areas in your theme display a HUGE empty space to the right.  This is fixed now in SMF 2.0 Gold, so it shouldn't be hard to fix this in your theme.

Cheers :)

Try this

go to ur theme's index.css
find
#quickReplyOptions form textarea
change everything inside the { }
to
height: 100px;
width: 635px;
max-width: 100%;
min-width: 100%;
margin: 0.25em 0 1em 0;

Unfortunately, that didn't help. However, looking at the source code, I found < textarea cols="600" rows="7" name="message" tabindex="1"></textarea >  I think there's 1 too many 0's in there, and I'm guessing that's in the default theme. Where would I find that?

I just commented the .clear section in the css... it was the only solution (I think that it is because Im using a roght column to show banners...)

BTW, I have changed the 600 cols to 60 (or any other value you like) (in /Sources/DisplayTemplate.php)
There is a guide about changes you may do to convert themes to 2.0 gold properly... I can not find it (the 600 cols is ok, should not afect the display on properly done themes they say)... did you updated your actualism theme after actualizing smf?
Maybe the latest version is properly done

This is the correct coding for Quick\Reply

/* Styles for the quick reply area.
---------------------------------------------------- */

#quickreplybox
{
padding-bottom: 1px;
}
#quickReplyOptions .roundframe
{
padding: 0 10%;
}
#quickReplyOptions form textarea
{
height: 100px;

Hey Crip,

thanks for this update. I found a small typo in the index.css file:

background: #0a0a0a url(../images/art/ACnavbg.png);

in line 3708 should be:

background: #0a0a0a url(../images/art/Acnavbg.png);

This is only important on unix/linux systems.

I've been using RC3 and today I upgraded to 2.0 Gold. Since I've changed a lot of things in the theme myself, I have some optimization issues with the Gold edition. Can you send me the link of the original RC3 index.css and index.template.php files so I can figure out exactly what I've changed and adjust the Gold edition?

Thanks, great work.

Hello Crip

I had another very small problem with your theme.

You can see it in the admin center and it´s only with your theme!

http://www.renault5turbo.de/forum/index.php (http://www.renault5turbo.de/forum/index.php)

And will it be an update for 2.0.2?

Thanks
Jens

Title: Re: Actualism

css/index.css Find:
/* Banners Logos Here! */
#logo a {
position: absolute;
top: 0.84em;
right: 25px;
display: block;
width: 207px  !important;
height: 54px  !important;
cursor: pointer;

Title: Re: Actualism
Post by: Chalky on February 25, 2012, 09:53:51 AM
Sorry, me again.  I have uploaded via FTP a new logo, which I have imaginatively named "logo1.png" into the same directory as your logo.png.  Then I modified the code to:
Quote/* Banners Logos Here! */
#logo a {
   position: absolute;
   top: 0.84em;
   right: 25px;
   display: block;
   width: 207px!important;
   height: 54px!important;
   cursor: pointer;
   background: url(../images/art/logo1.png) no-repeat;

But my logo isn't showing, I just have blank wood....  What am I doing wrong?

Edit:  Ah I've sussed it - my file was too big!  Please what's the filesize limit for this?  Thanks :)

I've been posting this in the 2.x support thread, but just discovered that there is no problem in the default theme, so I'm back here.

I'm running Actualism on SMF 2.0.2, but although my News Fader works exactly as it should with Firefox and Chrome, with IE9 the news items just show all together as a static list.  I have already checked the .css file and saw that the news fader is already set with the six digit hex code rather than the shorthand, and as I said, the news fader works just fine in IE9 if I switch to default theme.

Please, how can I fix this?

I'm only partly bumping - this is still an issue, but I have another one I want to ask you as well.  This has been an issue right from the start and not really bothered me as it's only me and my co-admin who can see it.  However, now my forum is getting pretty damn near perfect ;) I'd like to try and sort out all the little things too if possible.  I've attached a screenshot to illustrate, but basically, in the Moderate menu dropdown, the "Unapproved posts and topics" runs into the "Unapproved attachments".  Is there any way of fixing this please?

I have set up two news items for demo purposes.  Item number 1: "Test news item", item number 2: "Blah blah blah".  I now have four browsers installed on my computer so have tried it on all of them myself.  On Firefox, Chrome and Opera, the two news items fade and alternate as they should, but on IE9, they are both shown together statically, no fade, no movement.  If I revert to the default theme, then they do alternate and fade in IE also.  I attach a screenshot of the two news items in IE.

The text to show unread posts since last visit etc. has the clickable links in a slightly grey colour compared with the non-clickable white text (screenshot attached).  I would like it all to be the same colour, white.  I have just been through the .css file with a fine tooth comb but can't identify where to modify this - please can you give me a clue?

Thank you  ;)

Sabrinova, do you use firefox? the web browser... if not, install it
Then, search for firebug extension... install it, restart firefox

Go to your website... hit key F12, firebug panel will open at bottom...
Hit the CSS tab... then hit the arrow at left... then move the cursor over that text... and click on it (that makes a selection on that "thing", keeping it selected... so you can move the cursor and properties at rigth are mantained)

So... look on the properties section, at right... there you can see all the interacting css values... search for your color, see the file, see the line...

In fact, you can change it "on the fly", try it... (changes are not made to that file, but you can test other colors & properties until making it for real)

Hope you undertand all that... it will give you the tools to change the world! (?)

Ok, I managed up until I had to understand what it was showing me.  When I clicked on "Show unread posts since last visit", the little properties window gave me what's in the attached screenshot.

Index. css line 5 is
a:link, a:visited
and #800000 is red, not greyish.

Oh I just realised you can see what those each of those lines are.  I can't see anything there that corresponds to anything I can edit to change the colour I want to change....  What am I missing?

I've now slipped the code into my own forum and its all systems go regarding newsfader functionality, but I have one more question to ask if I may - instead of an actual colour for the background (#e3e3e3 in this case), is it possible to set the background to transparent?

Hi, would there be any chance of a graphic, similar to the search area box with the nice rounded corners but bigger to go in the 'userarea' in the header. I have put a different graphic in place of the wood and now it's a little hard to read the text.

A black box there would make the text stand out nicely.

Many thanks.

Also I wonder if you could possibly do a 'Poll' icon. The SMF theme is easy to miss in the list of threads.

IPB have a great one that just says 'POLL' on it. Could you possibly do one in keeping with your great theme?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Crip,

Excellent work with the theme, it's fantastic.

I am currently modifying your theme for my site running version 1.1.16 and so far things are going well, just wondering though there is a folder containing buttons for things like New Topic, Add Poll etc.. but on the theme the links show as plain text rather than using the buttons, how would I go about displaying the buttons instead of text.

I would post a link but as it's a work in progress it's not available to others yet, hopefully you understand what i'm after.

Cheers.

As you can see the links Mark Read, Notify, New Topic & New Poll are showing as plain links, I want to get them to show up as the buttons located in images/english folder.

I'm assuming that you're using SMF 2.0, and you don't need to edit any of this themes files. Just default theme. Also, this is only displayed to guests.

./Themes/default/BoardIndex.template.php
Code (Find) Select
echo '
<div id="boardindex_table">

Code (Add before) Select
if ($context['user']['is_guest'])
echo '
<div style="margin: 15px 15px;">
<div style="padding-left: 45px; padding-right: 45px;">
<div style="border-radius: 10px 10px 10px 10px; background:#d4e8ff none repeat scroll 0 0; border:1px solid #42a1de; margin:5px 10px 0; text-align:center; ">
<div style="padding: 0pt 5px; background: #42a1de none repeat scroll 0% 0%; -moz-background-clip: border; -moz-background-origin: padding; -moz-background-inline-policy: continuous; -moz-border-radius-topleft:6px; -moz-border-radius-topright:6px; ">
</div>
<table width="100%" border="0">
Donec mollis pharetra orci a varius. Donec tristique dictum massa at tristique. Suspendisse facilisis massa at ante lobortis rutrum. Maecenas euismod pretium arcu id varius.

</table>
</div>
</div>
</div>';

Result is in attachment. You can edit the Lorem Ipsum with your text(HTML) and change the colors for whatever suits you.

You can either find you a repeating header to use , or an image / banner/logo after you set your forum-Width so to fit the overall header-width..?
....i think is what your asking...?
Title: Re: Actualism
Post by: JCphotog on April 20, 2013, 11:17:44 AM
Sorry for the delay! Yes exactly. I'd like to have a banner image instead of the repeating header. Something that conveys the spirit of the forum.

Interesting point that I didn't think of, the limited width that would happen.  Maybe just a banner floating over the header so the forum width could still change?
Title: Re: Actualism
Post by: Crip on April 20, 2013, 02:46:11 PM
well, the " "width would prolly be ok via Width settings #wrapper { width: 98%; } - the height: shouldn't be higher than the Header..

You should find it under Themes/default/images/english
You have to copy it to Themes/default/images/your_language_here

Or in this theme's folder, if it exists there.

Ok, since it turns out I had to do some work with this theme anyway (curse that ChalkCat :D) here's a solution to this question (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=532308.0).

In index.css

Code (Find) Select
/* Avatar Fix */
#smf-avatar {
float: left;
padding-top: 5px;
padding-right: 10px;
}

Code (Replace) Select
/* Avatar Fix */
#smf-avatar {
float: left;
padding-right: 10px;
}
#smf-avatar>.avatar {
max-height: 60px;
}

Code (Find) Select
#news {
position: absolute;
float: left;
clear: both;
top: 10.5em;
left: 1.5em;
text-align: left;
font-size: 11px;
color: #FFF;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
width: 50%;
}

Code (Replace) Select
#news {
clear: both;
text-align: left;
font-size: 11px;
color: #FFF;
}

Code (Find) Select
#header {
position: relative;
height: 140px;
overflow: hidden;
background: url(../images/art/topperbg.png) 0 0 repeat-x;
}

Code (Replace) Select
#header {
position: relative;
min-height: 140px;
overflow: hidden;
background: url(../images/art/topperbg.png) 0 0;
}

What happens in the 7.x branch the syntax of the variable is changed foreach (http://php.net/manual/en/control-structures.foreach.php) for which you have to edit the new structure so that it works correctly!

// SMF Gallery Recent Images on Index

global $boardurl;

// Check if the gallery url has been set if not use the default
if(empty($modSettings['gallery_url']))
$modSettings['gallery_url'] = $boardurl . '/gallery/';

echo '

<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="5" border="0" align="center" width="100%" class="tborder">

$rowlevel = 0;
$maxrowlevel = 4;
foreach ($context['gallery_recent'] as $picture)

else

$rowlevel = 0;
}

if($rowlevel !=0)

echo '</table>';
}
// End SMF Gallery Recent Images on Index

// Show the navigation tree.

Ok, I found an old mod "Avatars on Board/MessageIndex"

Version 2.0 - Dec 28, 2017
- Fixed: Illegal string offset 'value' (due > PHP 7.1)
- Added: Proxy for external avatar urls

which was not up to date, I update it to the latest Version and the Errors was gone. After that I got new more errors with create_function() errors. I installed this mod and all is now running fine https://web-develop.ca/index.php?action=downloads;area=stable_smf_modifications;file=48

Thank you for your time you spent in my problem.
Kind Regards
