Title: Which SMF/bridge version to use?
Post by: jelv on October 18, 2009, 07:27:11 PM
I am working on a new site to use Mambo and SMF with a bridge. At the moment I'm using 1.1.10 and the 1.1.2 bridge - mainly to familiarise myself with how it all works (I'm on a learning curve with Mambo as well).

The website isn't due to go live until Jan/Feb. How likely is it that SMF 2.x and the bridge are going to ready for a live site by that time?

If I go with 1.1.x and the 1.1.2 bridge, what will be involved in converting to 2.x - particularly regarding the bridge?

Hi jelv, that's a bit of a tricky question you got there - since 2.0 isn't finished yet, and things can change before it going final.

But from how it looks now, I'd suppose you would have to ditch the bridge before upgrading, and upgrade your SMF alone using the large upgrade package, and when that is done, switch to the version of the bridge that is compatible with the upgraded version of SMF.
