Title: 300 users online use 298 RAM?¿
Post by: silber112 on December 10, 2009, 03:08:52 PM
I am using a VPS, and my forum uses about 300 mb ram with 300 users online. Is it normal?

I would think it might use even more than that.  You paying by RAM and CPU use?

SMF uses more than that I tried hosting my forum before on a VPS with 378 MB ram and it always crashes because I am always hitting my Maximum allocated memory.

It will also depend on what your running on your forum. Chat rooms and arcades may greatly increase your use.
I could set you up on a semi-dedicated server that you would share with 3 other people and probably save you a substantial amount of money, depending on what your rates are now.
@aED,...you certainly do have a busy site there. Looks very successful.  :)

How much are you ppaying for your currrent VPS maybe you can search at WHT with the same price but with higher specs. :) I usually get custom VPS plans because it saves me some money like trimming my harddrive and bandwidth down since I really cant use them.

silber112, is this issue resolved now or do you still have other concerns?
