Title: Avatar size restrictions
Post by: Mladek on December 17, 2009, 03:51:49 PM
Hello!
I have a problem with user avatars being too large. Example: anyone can upload animated gif 1.5Mb as his/her avatar despite my setting "Max size per attachment" is 128k (and i cant find restrictions to the avatar sizes themselves).

I have SMF version 1.1.11. Other settings:

Attachment Settings:

Uploadable avatars:

File Attachment Statistics:

Looks like it is possible to upload avatar to the "full" attachment directory? Seems strange.
So i repeat: if any user will try to upload large (>1Mb) animated gif 100x100, user will succeed. How can i restrict max avatar size?

Thank you for your help!

Hi Mladek,

Set Resize oversized avatars : yes

Also, recommend disallow avatars from being uploaded from external URL's

I tryed  Resize oversized avatars : yes and it didnt change anything. Btw i'm talking about uploaded avatars (from local hard drive), not about external ones. Why should i dissallow it anyway?

Welcome to SMF.

Have you changed your avatar size recently?  It seems that once someone has selected an avatar, it doesn't continually check so if you changed the size and someone already had one that was too large, the restriction would not affect them.
