Title: "New" icon doesn't show near topic title
Post by: labieno on January 08, 2010, 11:05:02 AM
Hi everybody,
I'm testing a new installation of SMF 2.0 rc2 and I'm quite confused about the way topics with new posts inside are highlighted.
If someone reply to a topic I created, the next time I login to my board I don't see the "new" icon near the topic title, just as if there is no reply to my post at all (while the board icon says New Posts).

I modified the settings for cookies but doesn't help.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks a lot. ???

Were you logged in at the time?

This is something we've seen recently, it even occurs on a board where I'm an admin but no-one is entirely sure what's causing it.

Here is what i'm doing:

1. login whit admin account, write a topic then logout
2. login with a second account from same pc, see the new topic with "new" icon near title, reply to the topic then logout.
3.login again with admin account, see the "New post" icon near the board title, enter the board, the topic seems to be red already...no "new" icon.

I'm trying this on a new installation after I noticed the very same behaviour after a test migration from a phpbb3 board to SMF 2.0 rc2.
It happens for each reply in a topic systematically in both cases.

Thanks for your help Arantor.

It seems to be a bug in SMF, actually, and is unrelated to the phpBB stuff - we have seen this occur on an almost unmodified installation of 2.0 RC2. The devs have been notified but we're not exactly sure how to resolve it at this point in time.

Thanks Arantor,
I'll wait for the next release then.

Ciao.
