i see this forum has been updated to rc3 any ideas how long before it'll be released to public
When it's ready. :D
Firstly, 2.0 RC3'll be published a weeks after for charter members. Finally, 2.0 RC3'll be published two weeks after for normal members.
Well, it'll go to Charter users first. If it's anything like RC2... I seem to recall it was with the Charter members about a month before it went fully public.
by looks of bugtracker it seems very few bugs have actually been fixed so im wondering is this a quick release to try and restore confidence .... btw they dont always release versions to charters firstsometimes they launch straight to public
Actually, a lot of bugs have been fixed in the last couple of days.
I personally don't like some of the aesthetic changes like polls, like the change on numbers in Profile > Show Posts, but nothing that I can't just mod out in my own stuff.
Oh, and http://www.smf-friends.org/index.php?topic=9.msg23159#msg23159
most i see are trivial there seems to be plenty of big ones not been fixed
What can we expect to see that has been added ?,any big features ?

None, it's feature froze. Just bugfixes and patches.

There are some
minor changes I've noticed so far on this site...
1) Avatars are now linked to profiles.
2) Poll Voting display redone.
3) Background color of [ code ] tags changed.
4) "Posts" column on the memberlist has a new bar.
5) The editor on the "reply" page is now in the middle instead of to the left (this may have been a bug, though).
But, yes, it was MAINLY for security and bug fixes.

8) They changed the layout of the Topic Summary on Reply.
9) The layout for the recent messages and member messages has been changed.
10) Finally they add the spanish image for new replies:

It's not a new feature in RC3, it's just that they always forgot to upload them to the simplemachines.org site... (Same for the French icon.)
will the modified curve themes still work with rc3 or will i have to modify it again

They probably will work, but I haven't had a chance to compare templates from RC2 with those from RC3 yet, so I can't say for sure. It also depends on how much you've changed.

That depends on which language you're using. For those of us using English and other LTR (left-to-right) languages, they have moved to the right. However, for those using Arabic and other RTL (right-to-left) languages, they will be left-aligned now.
I personally liked them better when they were centered :P
We want RC3 NOW!!!
Just kidding... ;)
I am not looking forward to rewriting my mod again...

You'll have to update your title headers.

You may not have to. I don't think the boardindex and other templates have changed that much since RC2.
Thank you. I can now sleep at night.... Still, I am going to cross my fingers with that one... O:)

Egads... After the 1000 versions changes of the past I put all my site changes into a big giant mod. Hopefully, this pays off without having to suffer from major

!!!!

Yes that was forgot in the last language update to the site. I got them this time. It does take some time to upload the languages is the main reason I forgot them. Our language editor has 76 languages in it currently :P I think you can imagine that it does take me some time to upload them all.. I will someday get around to building a script to make use of the language download features in 2.0 to help speed up this process.
Cannot wait!!!
I think we're all excited
Go Aaron!
does any one know if there is any difference to the db structure in rc3.
could a rc2 db be used on rc3 just wondering for testing purposes when rc3 comes out
The structure is quite good and there aren't major changes like RC2 had I suppose.
However the Mantis has some slow queries listed:
http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=4027 (banning members)
http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=3732 (SSI recent poll)
Why would you want to try a RC2 database on RC3 though? It will try to update your structure for you anyways when you patch the files. There's no good reason to skip that and run a potentially broken database.
bassically because when it comes out i will run a test site before upgradingthe live site and i have an existing test db not being used at the moment so wanted to do a clean install with this db.
i will not be upgrading the rc2 test site as i will still need to test rc2 features while the live site is still running rc2
