Title: Can I create a forum that looks like this using Simple Machines?
Post by: nickharambee on February 18, 2010, 09:56:29 AM
Hi

I would like to create a forum on my website that looks something like the one I have attached below, from the Things website.

In particular I like the minimal quality to the forum, and the background images on each post, which suggests a speech bubble.

This forum was created with Phorum, and I would use Phorum but it doesn't have one crucial feature that I would like, which I believe Simple Machines has, and that is the ability for the user to opt to receive daily or weekly summaries of posts to threads, sections or the forum as a whole.

I would be grateful for any advice on this

Thanks

Nick

Welcome to SMF,

Yes, you can achieve something like that using SMF, if you take the time to tweak the templates accordingly.

You could definitely do this if you knew how to edit template files, wouldn't be that tricky.

There may already be a theme close to this, so I suggest you checkout the theme site (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes).

Labradoodle-360: I have never once seen a theme like that for SMF on the theme site, and I doubt there is one available.
But no, it shouldn't be too hard to fix, if you know how templates work.
