Hi, I've been trying and trying to get the Ad Management Mod. I've downloaded it, and saved it on my computer in it's original format. I'm using the most recent Simple Machines. I go to the Packages Installer and I click 'Browse'. I find the Ad Management File. It says the file has successfully downloaded.
I then click Install Mod, and this shows up:

I'm not sure if it's all done, because it says 'Extract File' and there's nothing written in the 'Description'. Then at the bottom it shows this:

So, I fill in all the information and click proceed. Then, it says this:
QuoteAn Error Has Occurred!
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!
What's WRONG???
Feriscool.
Make sure your packages folder and all the files in it are writeable, also make a folder named temp make sure it is writeable.
The permissions should generally be 755 for the Packages directory and temp directory in the packages directory.
Where do I put this file? I thought all you have to do is save it as .zip, and then upload? What do I do?
This...is...urgent!
Well have you tried what both me and Kill Em All suggested?
Ok, your packages directory should be CHMOD to 755.
How do I chmod? / what is chmod? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=477.0)
Then try to install the mod again, make sure if it asks for the FTP info to fill it in properly. You may have to ask your host for the info.
Have you read this?

Feriscool, if you read what we are saying, you will know what we are talking about.
You upload that zip to your package manager like you did, then click install.
We have told you what to try and we can only help if you cooperate. If you have cpanel you can change file permissions through there or also through ftp.
If you cannot change the permissions yourself, you have a "chown" issue and will have to ask your hosting to fix it for you.

Okay, so, let's say I have the zip file. I unzip it, open up my FTP client, log in. Then I take that folder and drop it into the Packages folder. What chmod # should the packages folder be?

I guess, what is trying to be said is,
1. chmod 755/777 (writable) the package folder through ftp client.
2. create a temp folder in your forums root directory, and make it writable.
3. then upload the package/mod like you did before from the package manager. (but dont unzip the file, upload the zipped file to the manager.)

No, the temp folder in the Packages directory.
I'll try this.
Is this resolved?
