Bloody nice! I'll be using this one for sure ;) Alot of features, seems great ^_^

Exactly like the FaceBook wall... I love this ;) Now I'm gonna work on a custom block for this for portals, may be better for some people to appear on the front page, so...

Oh there already is a PHP Block for it ;) Awesome :D

Now I see SMF being the ultimate Social Networking tool :)

First, the font is too big, second it replace (integrated) personal text which should be a option, third the php block code doesn't work on simpleportal.

SPAM moar? Lol ^_^

Also, clean install of SMF 2.0 RC3. WAMP Server. Windows Vista. Installing this mod on that SMF, it crashes Apache when I load the page... Any ideas? It works fine on my live Linux server though :/
And I have to agree with S-Ace, it's a great mod, and I was going to make something like this myself sometime, but it's not really a social network, it's more of an extra page rather than network :/

I didn't make the block, it was on Monotiz' site ;)
And yeah, I'm sure this will set FaceBook back a little now. If we can get a FaceBook style chat for SMF, and an App system FaceBook would have its work cut out in the side of features. (Although users would still be a major thing)...

On the lite version, there seems to be a missing break on the right column (below) also cant get the PHP block to work on Tiny Portal (beta 5.1)

global $sourcedir, $settings;

// show_form = 0 ---> only message without form
// show_form = 1 ---> message + form
// show_form = 2 ---> only form without message
$show_form = 1;
$num_items = 5;

if (!file_exists($sourcedir . '/SMFSocialNetwork.php'))
   echo 'No SMFSocialNetwork.php file found';
elseif (!file_exists($sourcedir . '/SMFSocialNetwork-Subs.php'))
   echo 'No SMFSocialNetwork-Subs.php file found';
elseif (!file_exists($settings['default_theme_dir'] . '/SMFSocialNetwork.template.php'))
   echo 'No SMFSocialNetwork.template.php file found';
else
{
   require_once($sourcedir . '/SMFSocialNetwork.php');
   smfsocialnetwork_portal_block(4, $show_form);
}

Gives me

Fatal error: Call to undefined function smfsocialnetwork_portal_block() in /home/mysite/public_html/Sources/Load.php(2112) : eval()'d code(48) : eval()'d code on line 18

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi534.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fee350%2Fsurrealkiller_photos%2Fbr.png&hash=303475f862767157ae098e6ceaa52b4ce953aa88)

Are there any plans to expand the mod?

The block will display the whole SN, not just the profile, I asked MonoTiz if he could make a block for the SN profile and then you can use that one instead of comments one of UP.

But that really isn't fair for those that paid for it.
In my opinion you should remove that package, and just discontinue the support.
It seems stable enough.

The block display is causing some problems in TP Portal. My Full Members are reporting that some auto created items are giving an error "You cannot view this Item" but when clicking on it are able to view it.  Ive checked permissions and all are correct and members should be able to view the items.

This appears to be occurring when auto posts are created and topic posts. Normal shouts can be viewed OK.

theres something weird thats conflicting with Tiny Portal all together.

when i comment on status's, or like/dislike them....I get the following error:

An Error Has Occurred!
The article isn't active, hasn't been approved yet, or simply does not exist.

I traced this code back to be TP Portal specific.....so on a hunch, I uninstalled Tiny Portal, and the issue went away.

I really like tiny portal....it integrates my site well and I like the look and feel of it.....i would really prefer to keep it....

so anyone know how to get SMF SN to play nice with TP Portal?

It's in the readme.txt.
You could view it before the mod installs, or have a look in the package.
The readme may look all messy when viewed manually, but just put it into your post, and click "Preview" to see it.

EDIT:
Actually, here it is for future reference: for Pro version
global $sourcedir, $settings;

Try it... The mod's there and the code is there - but if you don't like the design, you can always change the block code...

Well to be honest, it's a fair question. Just like most themes have a live demo, and alot of larger mods have a live demo, I don't see why this doesn't...

Not trying to be cocky here, but if you're annoyed with questions like this, either quit the community, or don't respond to them...

Well, the mod itself has a live demo (http://www.monotiz.com/smf/index.php?action=smfsocialnetwork;sa=home), and since the portal is mentioned a few times on the support board, I guess Monotiz thought everyone would know what it does.
It was infact a Paid function up until a few days ago, so unless a member here provides a demo, don't expect to see one.

Well, I'm gonna throw up a live demo site for alot of mods sometime next month (I already have quite a bit done, but need to wait for something). It'll be somewhat like smfthemes.org. I'll throw this in aswell as a demo.

@amigozone
What you see here (http://www.monotiz.com/smf/index.php?action=smfsocialnetwork;sa=home), is what you will see in the portal block.

@Afro
Think nothing of it mate. Was only a little spurt :)

@Liam.
Sounds good.
How does that work? Do you need to converse with each of the mods authors in order to demo their work on your site, or is displaying it an open option?
Either way, sounds good.

The monotiz website is not opening here.
So you can see the block demo here. Though i customized it a little.

Why would I need to get permission from the mod authors? It will be a site totally like smfthemes.org (except not automatic, I will install them manually, only the mods on the latest versions of SMF). I have managed to get a test account that can see all the admin options but can't save any changes, so people can view the options of the mod. I'll try to wait for the Multiforums System to be released first though, even though that may take a while; but it'll save me space.

Well I've got a pretty nifty SMF related domain I'm going to throw it on, I'm going to have themes.domain.tld, mods.domain.tld, and domain.tld will be the main discussion forums about SMF, etc. I will be happy to work with you though ;)

Do what shadows said, go to your admin cpanel >> permission>> give permissions to membergroups and save. you will be fine.

Still can't work this one out.  Imported posts show only "You cannot view this Item" to everyone except Admins.  All permissions are correct and I can see no reason why this is happening.

Yeah, i found the avatar resize, personally i wanted what whole avatar column gone ( from the block only).

I'm trying to tidy up the look of the Social Network Block for portals to make its more compact... because you have to have a pretty big block other wise it doesn't look good.

but im having no luck

If you're only going to have this on the front page, and not a section within the forum, remove every instance of ?action=smfsocialnetwork;sa=home from your SMFSocialNetwork.php located in your sources directory.
Having multiple locations ie. front page and SN page; will require another edit in which Afro may provide you one day, and I have no interest in as I've re-written 3/4 of the mod to better suit my needs.
I'm very interested in seeing the Simplewall when it is available.

I should quit spamming this topic about SW. I need a domain and host for SW :o

/me runs off to either get that done, or start a topic somewhere else for all this. Or bump the poll in Chit Chat. Or even work on the actual mod.

Are you trying to say SW is in need of a domain name and host sponsor?

I think the best is to get a proper domain name for Simple Wall like SimpleWall.com or .net or .org. I think this is quite cheap.

On the other hand, this is my offer. If you dont mind to use a domain like simplewall.qom.my (which I got another about 3 months before next renewal) and share my EBiz Gold Unlimited hosting (of which i just renew for another year - click here for details (http://www.exabytes.com.my/web-hosting/small-business-hosting/)) and use it via ftp or extplorer (I really don't know how to share it in any other ways securely -  you can advice me though), I will sponsor your Simple Wall.

You may change it to your domain later and still share my hosting, or change to your own hosting later. How is that sounds to you? I will pm you the details for access.

There shouldn't be any error. The tips are:

If you have installed the lite version, then install this pro version on top of it. Don't directly install the pro version without lite version being installed first.

Pro version: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=375584.msg2644052#msg2644052

Simple Wall is currently being developed by Nas. I've heard that it could be run as a standalone but not in its first release. It will be as an SMF mod at first. It will also be different from this mod. So, please be patient if you want something like that to happen.

You can also see in the few posts above you that there is this facebook like page code that you can use if you want to create your own. http://www.99points.info/2010/07/facebook-style-wallpost-and-comments-system-using-jquery-ajax-and-php-reloaded/

I installed this mod (LITE version), then the PRO version on top of it, on SMF 1.1.11. I am running into a few problems.

1) The "Show Only Buddies" function doesn't seem to work.. or at least not as I would expect. I can have one person view another person's wall, even if they aren't buddies, when this is set.

2) While on another person's wall, if you enter in something to share, it appears only on their wall, which is fine. I assume it's acting as a "wall to wall". However, in the process, it kicks back this error:

There was a error in your query
/home/......./....../...../forum/Sources/SMFSocialNetwork.php
1889
id_member

and that line is the last line of this query:
            // Get the unseen value
            $result = $smfsocialnetworkFunc['db_query']('
               SELECT smfsn_unseen
               FROM {db_prefix}members
               WHERE ID_MEMBER = {int:id_member}
               LIMIT 1',
               array('id_member' => $user),__FILE__,__LINE__);

Any ideas?

Got this working successfully. Can someone remind me how to edit the buttons so I can link it in my button menus? like where admin, profile, etc are? I'm not saying the default smf theme for for an installed one here.

It is supposed to be there. Use a package parse to get the  codes for Sources/subs.php and add it.

If you mean the main navigation buttons, those are found in /themes/yourtheme/index.template.php

Both of these replies are correct, but only one will work for you.
When you ask for assistance, dont forget to mention which branch of SMF you use. SMF1 or SMF2.

You can do the belowing:

Code (Find) Select
$share_it = substr($share_it, 0, 255);
255 is your limit. You can increase it.

I think I fixed the Pending Buddies issue.. maybe... it seems it was the implode command which is placing a comma at the start of the buddy_list string being saved to the members table. It only does it when the first buddy is added, so many people may not have noticed it.

To repair it, open and perform the following on /forum/Sources/Buddies.php

Find:

// Update SMF's system as well...

$user_info['buddies'][] = $_GET['u'];
updateMemberData($context['user']['id'], array('buddy_list' => implode(',', $user_info['buddies'])));

loadMemberData($_GET['u'], false, 'normal');

$buddies = explode(',', $user_profile[$_GET['u']]['buddy_list']);

$buddies[] = $context['user']['id'];

updateMemberData($_GET['u'], array('buddy_list' => implode(',', $buddies)));

Replace:

// Update SMF's system as well...

$user_info['buddies'][] = $_GET['u'];

$xyz = implode(',', $user_info['buddies']);
if (strpos($xyz,",") == 0) $xyz = substr($xyz,1,strlen($xyz));

updateMemberData($context['user']['id'], array('buddy_list' => $xyz));

loadMemberData($_GET['u'], false, 'normal');
$buddies = explode(',', $user_profile[$_GET['u']]['buddy_list']);
$buddies[] = $context['user']['id'];

$xyz = implode(',', $buddies);
if (strpos($xyz,",") == 0) $xyz = substr($xyz,1,strlen($xyz));

updateMemberData($_GET['u'], array('buddy_list' => $xyz));

you have to add some items to see items.
in the form provided to write , write something and then share it or submit it(submit your status).

if this does not solves your problem, then someone senior in this forum would have to look into it

when using custom php code for Sp block, (found in the readme file of pro version)

// show_form = 0 ---> only message without form
// show_form = 1 ---> message + form
// show_form = 2 ---> only form without message
$show_form = 2;

when value 2 is used in $show_form

bbc and smileys fail to appear in the form.
but for value 1 for $showform , bbc and smileys appear.

is it a bug, or have I messed something up in the installation?

Anyway, it's seems there isn't 'id_poster' column in the 'smf_smfsn_list' table. Can you verify this in your database (by phpmyadmin for example).

Did you receive warnigs or errors during installation?

Did you have other mods installed?

I've just uploaded the 2.0rc3 version that fix a small layout bug. Try it.

I got the pro version of this mod. I just want to say that the pro version is exceptional! Very nicely done, loaded with features.  I would also like to add that it works on literally dozens of themes that I have tried, without any issues. I would highly recommend it.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear this.

I installed last update of this mod. There is an error main page:

Unknown column 'id_poster' in 'where clause'
File: /home/xxxxxxxi/public_html/Sources/SMFSocialNetwork.php
Line: 213

Same error.

I had social mod in 2.0 RC 2 and now upgraded to 2.0 and installed the mod.

Everything installed fine, and setting page also.

But when i click social button on the menu,it throws only this error.

Kindly assist.

it's seems there isn't 'id_poster' column in the 'smfsn_list' table. Can you verify this in your database (by phpmyadmin for example)?

I'm using the 1.x. Is there a way for the member to be modified if their wall post has been commented on or liked?

The post cannot be modified. The member can only delete the post.
The comment system is available only for the PRO version.

I like this and see it could gain some serious ground with a few improvements.  Number one needs to be a way to tag other members.  I cannot see a way to get people to start noticing this w/o the ability to tag.  It should be a tagging system that PM's the tagged user.

Great work.

I've looked everywhere, even joined at monotiz.com ... but cannot find where to purchase the PRO version of this.  There was a PRO Test attachment package i found, but doesnt show anything when installed.

the LITE version is great but really interested in the PRO version and its features.

EDIT::

NM, I found it.  was expecting this to be $20 or higher, but less than $8 what deal for the PRO version. :)

No support for the Paid version whatsoever.  And worse, the support forum is set to "admin post approval" so others can't even see your post and try and help you while the owner is nowhere to be seen!  Have no idea why they're set to post approval when ONLY paid customers can access the support section of the forum.

Glad it was only $8 bucks.

Pro version still works fine with 2.0.4.   Love the mod. Wish he would add a few things... but still very cool.

Anyone have any news on if this can actually work on smf 2.0.4 and where people can purchase it as it seems dead. Shame as it looks like the type of thing i really could do with.

QuoteYou can easily add internal links by the menu button. You can easily share photos or other items in your gallery (No HTML, only BBC).

Where i find that "Menu Button"....?

I think it means where is says [+] Add this link I think. I can't see how to add photos. I DID find where to edit the stuff to fix the grammatical errors and such. (In the themes/language/SMFSocialNetwork.english.php file)

I read there was a tutorial on his site, but that's dead. I'd love to have the tutorial... This thing DOES have good possibilities, especially when used with Ultimate Profile. What'd like, is a way to connect it somehow so that when you post to your social wall, it would read the custom code area of Ultimate Profile and make the user's wall like that. I know it's "doable" I just don't know how.

Anyway, this is for a Dog Owner's site... the beta is here: http://www.reenactor.net/dog/ (http://www.reenactor.net/dog/) It seems t be working pretty well. If I can just fix a couple things like the profile/wall customization thing...

Does anyone have the instructions for this mod? I read that there was a tutorial, but it's long gone. I am hoping maybe the mod author will send it to me, but if not, does anyone know how to add photos to the wall posts? I get the @username hashtag thing... great... I know there's more to use.

I like your set up, sturmkatze... Using "Bark" instead of shout, pretty neat. What exactly are you having difficult with? How did you happen to get the full version?

He e-mailed it to me. I asked. Sadly, he has no time for anything on this. I would really like the instructions... HOW does one post photos to the wall? for example...

Kinda, Breeze add social profiles + semi-social page. This mod added just a Social Page.

That does not mean that the mod can be re-released with updates by someone else.   He released the pro version, as is -- but did not release the code form the existing license

I'll do you a favor, the mod if full of bugs and I'd avoid it completely if I were you.
